    - Instant Messaging I understand Outlook 2007 allows users to see the online status of IM contacts. To turn on this function go to Tools - Options - Other, then select options under Person Names. My problem is this area is grayed out. I have several contacts in Outlook with IM address, etc and I also use Live Messenger.     - Change Outlook 2007 contact reminder default time from 4:00pm When I set a follow-up reminder for a contact in Outlook 2007, the default reminder time is set at 4:00pm!!! I know if I change my working day from 8:00am-5:00pm to 8:00am-9:00am it will move the default reminder time to 8:00am as the default reminder time is set to one hour before the end of your working day which is useless as most people start there working day at 8:00am not 4:00pm. The problem is my working day is from 8:00am - 5:00pm and that is how I want outlook set-up. If I set my working day to 8:00am-5:00pm then my default reminder, start time moves to 4:00pm one hour before the end of my workday. Very stupid if you ask me.     - Deleting contacts Hi, I was having a clean out and thought I was deleting contacts when in fact I was just deleting them from my address book, which I now realise is an entirely separate thing. Is there a way I can quickly delete the contacts I want to get rid of without going through the process manually again? It would be handy to add a category to all my remaining contacts in the address book at once and then delete any contact not categorized, but that doesn't seem to be possible.     - Outlook Express backup problem -- folders not re-instated On backing up OE data folders and files into the designated backup folder I have a problem in that, although the folders and files are visible in the new backup folder created, these files and folders will not import back into OE. Error messages telling me ' no messages are in this folder' or ' the selecte folder can not be opened as another application or OE is using it'. I have checked that all the folders and files required to be imported back into OE are not 'read only' designated but still no import is possible.     - importing .pst files I am trying to import old .pst files from a hard drive i have connected to a new computer. The files are from outlook 2003, and the new computer also has the same version.     - Lost Contact I worked for a company and we were on exchange. I worked from my home office so i had RPC over HTTP protocol. That is how I was connecting to my exchange email.     - conversion error import contacts from csv Hi, I made a program to generate a .csv file, to be imported with the menu (File - Import/export etc) into outlook 2003. A month ago it worked, but now there results a conversion error, after selecting the import file, and selecting the destination (Contacts), just before the screen with the field assignments should appear (now it doesnot). When I create a new file manually, and copy the content, the import works well. The strange thing is that the import worked well, a month ago. What could have changed?     - Odd behaviour outlook 2007 - default view for contacts I have come across an interesting problem with a single Vista workstation in a network environment. Fault: When setting the view to categories for a contacts folder in public folders the views state is not saved when closing outlook. (This is usually saved on the last view when the application is closed) It can be changed but when jumping to a mail folder and back to the contacts .OU the view will revert back to business card format. Other outlook 2007 applications on the network behave as expected.     - I have an issue that NO ONE has been able to solve... I have a new Dell computer running Vista. My issue is when I create a Journal entry for a contact and then go to view it via Activities it randomly shows the entries. Sometimes it shows the Journal entry the first time I click on Activities, sometimes it shows the Journal entry the 5th time I click on Activities. If I reopen the Contact after I was able to view the Journal I may or may not be able to view it again. Both Dell and Microsoft Tech Support have NO IDEA why it acts this way.     - Transfering contacts from my Outlook 2003 to an Outlook Exchange 2 I'd like to transfer my contacts from my personal laptop which has Outlook 2003 to my company issues laptop that has Outlook 2007. Both are running on Windows XP. My Outlook 2003 info is a .pst file. I'm not even sure of the file type for the Oulook 2007 but I'm quite sure it isn't a .pst file. Nor am I sure where it is locaed on my hard drive. My personal laptop is all bud dead, but I think I can load the .pst onto a flash drive.     - Some e-mail contacts not working as "to" addresses - undeliverable When I type an address in the "to" field and it starts to auto-complete based on recent address entries, I can hit "return" and it works if it puts the name of the recipient (the "display as" version from contacts) in between apostrophes (so 'John Smith'), or if it gives the name of the person then the e-mail address in between <> (so John Smith <Johnsmith@yahoo.com>). That always works. It also works if I manually type a complete address. But if I get the name of the contact without apostrophes or without the address in brackets, or more importantly, when I click on an address in my contacts it puts in the name of the recipient (the "display as" version, again), but WITHOUT the apostrophe and then it doesn't work. I get an immediate returned mail from "system administrator" but I think this is from Outlook itself, not my ISP. I don't think anything ever left my machine. But not sure on that point. But in any case, the message as "undeliverable" in the subject line and then "the following recipient(s) could not be reached" then the name of the contact, the date/time of the e-mail and then it says "The requested operation failed." I'm using Outlook 2003 and I haven't knowingly changed any settings, but this started happening to me recently (not problems with the same software and setup for years - this spontaneously started happening).     - After i import contacts, their birthdays do not show up on the cal I had outlook on an old laptop. I copied all the contacts to a folder and put them on a USB thumb drive. I installed office 2003 on my new computer and dragged the contacts from the USB drive into the contacts portion of Outlook on the new computer. Outlook 2003 Win ZP Exchange Server When she opens it up and tries to delete or add, it appears to work. Save, exit, go back in and it has not updated. I was able to repeat the problem.
