I am running Windows XP and Office 2007. I have several group lists that I
developed in Outlook. when I try to add a name and email address to any of
the group lists (from my outlook address book), I keep getting a
message"Distribution list contains contacts that have not been sent to
server. Press f9 to synchronize new contacts then save the distribution list."
I have tried F9 which seems to do nothing. I'm frustrated in not being able
to add to my lists. Please help?!
thankyou!

We have no idea what you mean by "group list." It is not a term that has any
meaning in Outlook.
We have no idea why you would be trying to modify any Outlook data from the
address book view. It was never intended for that purpose. All Outlook data
must be entered from the Contacts Folder. ]
Clarify your post.

Then state more clearly what you are trying to do and in what information
store.

Re: Outlook group list by Montana

I have set up a distribution list in Outlook.
I need to add to the list periodically. to do this I click on the
distirbution list in my Outlook address book. This opens the list of names
with email addresses contained in the list. There are menu options at the
top of the list of names. One of the options is Select Members. I click on
this to add another name to the list and it automatically opens my address
book. I select the name in my address book that I want to add to the list
and it sends the name and address to the distribution list. Then I click on
the option Save and Close. After I do this I get an error message that
states: "The distribution list contains contacts that have not been sent to
the server. Press F9 to synchronize new contacts then save the distribution
list." When I press F9, nothing seems to be happening within the computer.
I then close the distirbution list and a message pops up asking if I want to
save the changes I made. I click on Yes and then the error message pops back
up. The only way I can close the distribution list is to click on No, as to
saving the changes. So that leaves me with out being able to add names to
the list.
I hope that I have been able to be clearer with my problem.
thank you!

As I said, Outlook does not use an address book and you never enter or edit
data in the address book view.
You must still state where this DL resides.

Outlook lists my email contacts in 'Address Book' and when I try to add a
contact to a distribution list, Outlook automatically brings up the 'Address
Book.'
If you will bring up Outlook and place your cursor over the little book icon
on the top menu bar, you will see this.

Pay attention, now. I don't know how else to tell you this.
There is no data in the address book view, and you must not attempt to
manipulate any data from this view. All Outlook data resides in Contacts
Folders. You must identify where you actually created these DL's and
manipulate them from that folder.
