    - Why no more (+) plus sign to expand distribution lists? All of a sudden Outlook 2007 is messing up. When I add a distribution list to an email, I can no longer expand it. the plus (+) sign has totally disappeared next to it. Furthermore, although my settings haven't changed, the only way I can send and receive emails is to hit the send adn receive button. So when I make an email and hit send - it goes to the outbox. And when I boot up Outlook it no longer automatically receives. I am wondering if I need to download something or if it has a bug. Tag: Outlook 2007 Tag: 123271

    - Preventing Contacts removed from Outlook address book from I have removed many old contacts from my Outlook address book but they continue to pop up on auto-fill when I'm trying to type in a similar name even though they no longer appear in the address book. For example, I may have removed "Fred Smith" from my address book months ago and have not typed in his name since then. However, when I begin to type in "Fred Jones" for an e-mail address, "Fred Smith" automatically pops up as soon as I complete "Fred". This gets worse as time goes on since more and more older entries continue to appear when similar names or entered. WHERE DO THESE DELETED CONTACTS COME FROM IF THEY ARE NO LONGER IN MY ADDRESS BOOK AND HOW DO I PERMANENTLY GET RID OF THEM??     - Contacts file I went to Microsoft's website www.howto-outlook.com and got the instructions on how to locate the Outlook pst data file.     - Importing contacts into Exchange have Outlook 2003 which I use to POP email from my provider into my private folders. I also have contacts and calendar entries. I use Wireless Sync to sync it all up with my Treo running Windows Mobile. I want to upgrade from POP to Exchange service with my provider (hostway.com). However, my provider tells me that I can bring over my old POP'ed email to my Outlook's Exchange mailbox but not my contacts or calendar entries. Is there a way to do this by importing a file or just copy/paste from one place to another within Outlook?     - copy contact from contact list to folder I had a folder in my contacts list that had one group of epeople that got a certain kind of information sent to them. WhenI went to delete one contact it deleted the whole folder. I checked in the Deleted file and its not there. Not I have to re input these peopl ein the folder. My boss has created a contact list on excel and I am wondering if there is like a master contact list or addressbook on exchange? he has a file name contacts.pst and contacts.wab is there a way to make either of this files like the master contact list? basically what I want to do is have all the users point to like a master contact list. so if that list changes they all change at the sametime.     - Contact Categorizing limits Outlook 2007 I really find it strange to list a contact as color lt green "holiday". What is the point of having the ability to list a contact as red "must attend"? Can you have more categorizing of contact over the total of 25 colors listed? And what is the limit to the number of categorties you can have for a contact?     - Sharing Contacts sub-folders Not sure if this is the right group to post but I have this problem: Trying to share a Contacts folder under "Contacts", all permissions are set okay, but when the other user try to connect, it denies.     - Outlook 2003 Contacts & Address Book I have had been using Outlook Express for many years and now have started using Outlook 2003 for just my business emails. I have 2 questions here. First, in the "folder list", why do I have 2 folders called "Personal Folders", both with the identical folders underneath? When I click on "contact" in either of these trees, it seems they are identical. When I click on the "Contact" button in my shortcut list, there are 2 items listed in "my contacts" favorites: One is called "Contacts" the other "Contacts in Personal Folders". I'm confused why this is duplicated. This may have something to do with the next problem. When I open a new email window and click "To:", I get the following error message: The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permission...." (I am not working on a server, it is my personal computer and I have Windows XP Media Edition. ) However, if I click "ok", it brings up an empty Address Book and if I click on "Show Names from the:" I get a drop-down menu that allows me to choose from: Outlook Address Book, Contacts or again, Contacts! It is defaulted to one called Contacts so if I click on the other it then brings up the list of all my contacts correctly! I would appreciate any help, this is driving me crazy.     - Outlook 2007 - Phone Number Display In Contacts We have an interesting outlook contact phone number display issue. We have programmed our Phone and Modem settings to include rules for phone number prefixes within our area code that require long distance information. (1+areacode) When adding a new contact everything displays great. For example.... 1 (999) 999-9999 Etc... Existing contacts before the rules however, still display as either (999) 999-9999 or worse 999-9999. Opening the contact and clicking the phone number button fixes it, but with some users having hundreds-thousands of contacts that is kind of an un-reasonable approach. All contacts are stored in Exchange as the back-end. Funny note: If you click the "dial" button, the number dials correctly even though the display is wrong. Is there a way to have the contacts DISPLAY properly without having the users edit each one? Will export, delete all, import work? What are the chances for data loss doing that?     - Import from Excel to Outlook Having duly searched the "microsoft.public.outlook.contacts" archive I made minimally successful attempt to import an Excel format data base (.xlt) but only the "business street" field was imported all other fields were blank. I used Excel and Outlook both 2000. 1. First I named each column in the spread sheet with the exact default names used in Outlook. 2. Then ran the Outlook import wizard 3. Verified that the import fields were matched with the ones in Outlook 4. Ran the import process. After a long period of time the process finished with no reported errors (2000 contacts each with 30 fields). Where did all the data go. I have drilled on View settings but to no joy. I had previously tried this with a customize form and concluded I could not import into it successfully. I then uninstalled Outlook to clear any bad effects from the failed attempt and reinstalled Outlook. But the new installation still had evidence of the failed effort. So I do not know if this is what is preventing the successful importation. At the least I would like to know (short of formatting the HD) how to get a clean install of Outlook.     - New PC - migrated Outlook 2003 settings to 2007 & now hosed - HELP I migrated my XP professional settings to Vista professional (I know I know!) and when I create an Outlook (Enterprised ed.) email, the To list is empty. Drop down Address Book list is empty. When I click Advanced Find I get modal dialog "The search cannot be completed. Tou must have an address list to search in. If you don't have an address list contact your Microsoft Exchange admin." I don't have Microsoft Exchange. Under Tools/Account Settings/Address Book I have Outlook Address Book MAPI but Remove is disabled. Under Contacts Folder under Properties, Outlook Address Book tab, the "Show this folder email address book" check box is disabled. I have uninstalled the product and reinstalled it - no luck. The registry has evil stuff. I tried renaming my C:\Users\...\outlook directory, uninstalled/reinstalled and then Outlook wouldn't run - again the evil registry entries "remembering" the wrong stuff. So now I'm at my wit's end. The only option I see is to reload windows from scratch to get a clean registry - unless someone can help me figure out how to activate the "show this folder" button.     - I cannot get a percentage to properly display in a custom form fie I created a custom form in Outlook that has a field for entering percentages. I have it formated for "all digits".     - Merge Public Contact with Personal Hi. I'll try to explain this as clearly as possible: We are using Exchange Server and Outlook 2003. We have a Public Contacts folder and every individual on the system has a personal contact folder. What my boss wants me to do is merge all of lists together. The hard part is, he wants the personal contact folder to automatically 'sync' with the Public Contacts Folder, so that our users won't have to browse as much to bring up the master contact list. I am using the mail merge option in Outlook so that the greeting line ("Dear Joe") is individualized in each email. The email instructs the recipient to open the attached document. Normal, Personal, Private, & Confidential. I pretty sure about Normal &
Private, but where do the other two fit in and what effect do they have onthe

AFAIK they are only for informational purposes in Outlook - they do not
change Outlook behavior.
