    - Contact Groups Hi all - I am using Vista and Outlook 2007. I am trying to organize my contacts by creating Contact Groups and moving individual contacts into their appropriate group. 1. I select 'Contacts' in the Navigation Pane by clicking on it 2. I click on 'Add New Group' and get a Group Bar (?) titled 'New Group' with that name highlighted 3. I rename that group to 'Family' and press enter 4. At this point: a. I cannot open the group to add contacts b. I cannot drag an existing contact into the group c. I cannot do anything at all with this group except for those actions offered in it's context menu; ie, I can Rename it, Remove it, Move it Up, Move it Down, etc. I just can't get any contacts into it.     - Calendar view Everytime I go to my contacts the business cards are at 60% and I can't see a thing, so I have to open the contact and hen close it.     - Export Distribution List: Full Contact Info Won't Export I have a thousand names in Contact List. I have several hundred in a distribution list created from Contact list. I want to export the Distribution List info to Excel. I tried saving as .txt, but only the name and email address is saved in the text file. If I click on a name in the distribution list, I get the full contact info -- but it won't export. Is there any way to export full info from a distribution list?     - how do I synchronize Outlook contacts and Motorola phone tool I have Motorola Phone Tools versioon 4.0 which works well with my Motorola V3 phone. However I cannot get contacts to synchronise my phone contacts from MS Outlook 2007. Phone Tools should place a synch button on the Outlok tool bar but this did not happen.     - Public Folder Contacts Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a way of progrmically removing public folder address books that are no longer there. To explain the situation I have been using a script for some time to put the public folders from exchange 2003 and add them as address books within outlook. I have had to take these modify them and then put them back into the public folders. ( I created a PST modified then copied them back). The problem with this is that there are duplicate names when I use these folders. I want to know if there is a way to modify or create a new script to do this.     - Presence Unknown Status in Outlook 2007 We're in a mixed Office 2003 (/05 in some apps) and Office 2007 enterprise environment. We all have MS Communicator 2005. Personally I have Office 2007 on Vista but 95% of the company is still on XP with either 2003/05 or 2007. The correct status (online, busy, offline, etc.) shows up on Communicator, but not in Outlook. In outlook the status is grayed out for Office 2007 users but the users with older builds have their status displayed accurately. I can't find ANY info on this problem in the Knowledge Base.     - Updating Contact Information Does anyone know of a way to automatically synchronize or update Outlook 2007 contact information from information periodically posted by the contact? It seems that Windows Live Messenger has ways to update contact information based on updates made by the contact themselves to their own information. Is there a way that Outlook 2007 can access Windows Messenger contact information to automatically update the Outlook 2007 contact information? Are there other ways to request updates from the contact (vCards, contact files, etc) in order to synchronize or update your existing contacts? Our problem is that contact information is so dynamic that you really need an automated way to update your contact information based on changes actually made by the contact to their own information.     - Cheating the Contacts distribution list? Currently using Outlook and Exchange 2007. As best practice when creating Contact based distribution lists you should try to keep less than 100 if you keep the contact's that were added detail to absolute minimum. So of course one of our High level execs wants to create a DL in his contacts with 800 SMTP addresses. So we created 8 separate DL groups with 100 persons in each group. Now, to cheat the normal error when more are added to a DL, can I create a single combined DL where each of those other 8 distribution lists are added within? We want to make this so he just has to send to one group but of course once sent it goes to all those subgroups. Does this work or will it also give an error regarding DL size, etc? Thanks!! I also got Microsoft Office XP for it and I am trying to move my contacts from the old desktop to the lap top. How is the best way to do it.     - Any better way to add a shared contact folder to address list I have seen previous posts regarding a shared contact list has been added to an Outlook profile but can't seem to be placed in the Outlook Address book. Was mentioned about opening the other users mailbox and then keeping that mailbox open in the other profile. Is there no cleaner way to simply add that shared contact folder into the address book? The user that has been given rights to the contacts has also been set as an Owner on the shared Contacts folder but to give rights to the mailbox itself and then also leave that in the active profile just seems really bad. So, any new clean way to add someone else's shared contact list into the other persons Outlook 2007 address book? Also, this was a sub folder of the first persons contact folder called "Students".     - Outlook Connector Contacts & Distribution List issues I use an MSN e-mail account with Outlook Connector for OUtlook 2007 and I've had an issue for quite a while that I can't seem to tolerate much longer. To start, I have all my family members on a distribution list set up (as Family Reunion) and lately I've added three new people to my contacts list, but when I try to add them to the Distribution list, I'm told that the distribution list contains contacts that haven't yet been synchronized, press F9 to synchronize your contacts, then save you list. Thing is, hitting F9 does the send/receive thing, but I still can't save the changes to the list. Then to top it all off, when I open up a web browser & sign into MSN, pull up my contacts, they're all there, including the three new ones I can't add to my distribution list, but my distribution list (Family Reunion) just isn't there. How do I get this to act right. I want to add my three new cousins to my list & I would really like for my distribution list to show up in MSN, though that's only secondary really, seeing how I'm using Outlook as my e-mail program.     - Stand alone Outlook 2007 can't export......FAE.dll error message When I decided in November, 2007 that I was going to get an iPhone in Spring, 2008 my research showed that I could no longer use Lotus Organizer. Never having installed Outlook from my Office 2003 H/S, I marched out and purchased Outlook 2007 stand alone, installed it on my 2 year old HP and went to work copying manually, all my contacts, appointments, etc. Purchased my iPhone last week and of course, it won't sync with Outlook. After four days (literally) on the phone with Apple and Microsoft Research Techs, the problem is NOT solved. However, trying for a workaround, it was decided several days ago to export my contacts to Windows Address Book and then sync the iPhone with WAB (which works). However, when we try to export I get the following message: TRANSLATION ERROR An error has occurred in the Microsoft Office Outlook Translator while initializing a translator to build a field map. Internal Error: Unable to load File Access Engine (.FAE) DLL, additional Outlook translators can be instaled from the Valupack." The Microsoft Research Tech says MS is 'working on that error message but they don't know what causes it. Many people have it'. Any insight here? I am running Windows XP Home, installed by the factory on my HP when I purchased it. Office 2003 H/S (Word, Excel & Powerpoint) - Outlook 2003 was NEVER installed.     - missing distribution list I deleted one member of a distribution list and lost the whole list. Have read others' accounts of this, but can't seem to restore. The list does not show up in my deleted folder. I have backup .pst from a few days before. Start Outlook, go to file/open/outlook data file. Navigate to my backup file. Its modified date/time is right now (why?). Select anyway, a pause, screen looks the same, have today's email and no list. Either the backup didn't really open or somehow did another backup just now.     - How to Update Outlook 2007 Activities in ACT2008 I have tried everything to get Outlook 2007 e-mails to create a history in ACT2008. I have also tried the Outlook Activities from the Tools Menu Bar in ACT and it doesn't appear to do it. I was sure it did before and I don't know where else to look. I have tried every Help message to try and find it but to no avale.
