How do I get rid of an automatic contact that I already deleted?
When I address a message to a particular person by typing his last name, an
automatic address appears that is an old one that I deleted in Contacts. The
correct new address is not offered in this process despite the fact that it
is entered in Contacts as the ONLY address for this person. Tag: CONTACTS---Entering a new contact Tag: 124739
Auto Complete Inconsistency
Hi all,
One of my clients has an SBS 2003 R2 network. All PC's have no problem,
except the bosses (typical!). He has a laptop at the office (XP Pro, SP2) and
uses a PC at his home (Vista, no SP) to connect to their Exchange 2003 server
(PC at home uses RPC over HTTP). Both laptop and home PC have Outlook 2007
installed. For some time now, the auto complete feature is proving to be
inconsistent, ie, one minute you can start typing a contact name and a list
of possible entries is displayed, the next minute, typing the same name or
anything else doesn't offer any contact suggestions at all. Both
installations have Office 2007 SP1 installed. Anyone have any ideas on how I
can get round this ? Many thanks in advance.

Pocket PC outllok and Visa Office 2007 Synch Issue
Hi all:
I have an ipac 5500 w/ Pocket PC 4.x and Pocket Outllook. I have a new LT

The only option is browse for files.
I go to the synch center and my device is not listed, so that means it is
incompatible, so how do I make this work?
I would appreciate a complete solution if someone has worked through this
already. Thanks.

Remove Contacts Folder
I am using Outlook 2003 and when I try to retrieve an email address from my
contacts I get an error message which says;
The address list could not be displayed. The contacts folder associated with
this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or
you do not have permissions.
After clicking on OK a blank contacts box is displayed, if I then select the
second contacts option from the drop-down box I can see my data. Could any
one tell me how to remove the first contacts entry so I go straight to my
data.
Many thanks,
Michael. Tag: CONTACTS---Entering a new contact Tag: 124718

When adding a new contact, Outlook should allow you to add the contact to a

Outlook Contacts
I recently upgraded from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2002. It used to be that
when I composed a new message, I could type in the name in the TO field, and
it would check my contact list and fill in the email address, or I could
click on the down arrow next to the TO field and it would give me a list of
everyone in my contacts list.
Now when I compose a new message, it gives me a squiggly red line because it
wants me to select between two duplicate names (one is a fax address and one
is an email address).
I don't use Outlook to fax messages. How can I get Outlook to automatically
select the email address, and ingore the fax addresses?

Destination folders do not show when importing to Contacts
I'm using Outlook 2003. When I try to import an Excel sheet to a contacts
folder, the folder does not show. In fact, none of my contacts folders show,
just email pst folders. I know I've done this before but can't for the life
of me figure out what I'm doing wrong this time.
What I've done: I highlight the contacts folder that I want to import to,
then I go to <File> <Import Export> <Import from another program>, select the
Excel sheet where the contacts are located and that's as far I get, because
there are no Destination folders available. Can someone help me with this?
Thanks.

Outlook 2003 Check Names-Is it possible to skip/clear missing emai
I often send to a broadcast list that changes frequently so I am constantly
being asked to 'Check Names'. In each case, when I cancel, I am required to
locate, in a very small box with many names, the one name I am having a
problem with, remove it and then restart the check names. Since I often I
have 20-30 invalid addresses, I have to repeat this process of stopping and
restarting many times. I'd like to be able to have Outlook simply skip/delete
the incorrect entries. Is there any way of doing this? I can't believe I am
required to do this one at a time. There's got to be a better way.
Any ideas? Help!

Missing Contacts Folder in Outlook 2003 SP-3
I was/am setting up my Outlook on my new (Vista) machine.
I was going through removing all duplicate contacts, and placing tem in a
separate folder - Duplicate Contacts.
In the meantime I was setting up some o my views. In doing so, I mistakenly
selected names from the Duplicates folder to place in the "To" field as part
of the view definition.
Then, I believe that I deleted the Duplicates folder.
Now, when I go to these views, I get an error because the name designated in
the "To" field exists no more, since the folder itself is (apparently) gone.
But I canot seem to get rid of the link between the view and the Duplicates
folder and correctly tie it to the name in the Contacts folder.
Is there a way to fix this? And to remove the "Duplicate Contacts folder
from the Outlook "memory"?

Chuck Billow

Temporarily changing contents of Contact lists
I have set up several versions of my Contact List for forwarding e mails w/o

Without going through and manually deleting a contact from each of the lists

In a perfect world this would also have an option for the time period that
the contact would be deleted.

Contacts Randomly Disappearing in Outlook.
Hi everyone,
One of my clients has contacts disappearing from their contact list. The
contacts are disappearing randomly with no pattern I can identify. I've done
a search, but I haven't found any satisfactory answers.
The customer is in a hosted exchange environment (meaning the exchange
server is hosted off-site along with a Blackberry Exchange Server service).
Only one account is affected (that we can identify). Three other people have
editor access (and they are not deleting these contacts). There are 7 other
users, but they only have reviewer status.
There is one more twist. The actual user does not actually add/remove
anything from the list. Their office manager manages the list from her
computer.
I can't seem to replicate the problem anywhere else (and I don't have a
Blackberry server to use either). So I'm hoping someone here can help me.
Thanks. Tag: CONTACTS---Entering a new contact Tag: 124642

Sorting Email Addresses in Address Book
I use Outlook 2007. I want my contacts sorted by last name or -- if no last
name -- business name.
HOWEVER, I want my email addresses first name, last name so when I begin to
type and email address to "John Smith" it comes out at "John Smith" and I
don't have to remember to type "Smith, John" and I especially do not want it
to appear in an email as "Smith, John."
I have followed all sorts of instructions about changing the address book
settings to first name, last name sorting and it does not have any impact on
what I have. I change it and it still remaines "Last name, First name" . I
have done this and restarted it and then done it again and restarted it.

one suggestion from online to insert a row a label each column from A-T, and
save as in Comma Seperated (Windows). When I go into my Outlook to Import the
.csv, it all loads into my contacts but only the first 3 columns? So all I
get is First Name, Last Name & Company? Am I doing something wrong, I cant
seem to get the addresses or phone numbers in there?
I also tried doing a sample backwards, exporting from outlook to excel and
then importing to Palm, and it all worked great everything was there. Do I
need to go into my Outlook fields and change them? And if so , how and what??

Outlook driving me mad!
Hi,
I am trying to import my contacts from an Excel spreadsheet into Outlook. I
feel like I have tried EVERYTHING! I have saved my data as both an excel
spreadsheet and in CSV format. I have made sure the columns AND the range of
data is identified.
I check and check again to make sure my fields are mapped correctly. I have
tried eliminating symbols that might interfere (even though I don't see why
they would).
Every time I do the import, all of the data is imported EXCEPT for the
address.... it gets the name, city, state, phone etc etc but ALWAYS leaves
out the address!
Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? If so, I would
greatly appreciate some help.
Thanks!

How to intelligently and automatically merge duplicate contacts
I imported 2500 old contacts and created about 90% duplicates. I'm using
Office Outlook 2007 and I can't believe that there is no tool in this
software to intelligently merge duplicates that have been created via the
import tool. Does anyone out there know of a third party tool that will do
this? It would be simple logic: If the contacts have the same modification
date then delete one or the other. If they aren't identical, then ask the
user which to keep or better, keep the conflicting fields from the newest
record and delete the older content and merge the duplicate contacts into one
contact record. Tag: CONTACTS---Entering a new contact Tag: 124611
