I am on Vista Business OS and was running a trial version of Office 2007.
The trial ended and I now want to run Office 2003 (never previously
installed). I installed Office 2003 and now when I want to add a new
calendar item or contact, I get a Microsoft Office Outlook error of "the
messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists,
restart Outlook". I installed the Office 2003 Service Pack 2. I can send
and receive messages fine, just can't add new calendar or contact data. Your
suggestions? Thanks, Marilyn

Dear Marilyn,

a.) try "scanpst"
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA010549311033.aspx

b.) or try "fixmapi"

Start/run": fixmapi.exe => click "OK", restart the computer.

c.) or try "new profile"

Maybe it helps.

I failed to mention I am on an Exchange 2003 server. Do your options below
still apply? Thanks, Marilyn
