Outlook shared calendars not updating properly
Weâ??re having a recurring problem where users sharing calendars with each
other are having problems with information not updating correctly.
All users have set sharing permissions for other department members to
Publishing Editor, so they can all add/remove/change appointments created by
anyone.
The problem is with Outlook 2007, running on Exchange 2003.
The first time this happened, a user saw information on her calendar, but no
one else did. She ended up double-booked for a time-slot because she had
added several events to her own calendar, but in everyone elseâ??s view of her
Calendar, that time slot still showed as empty.
I was unable to see the problem, as it had resolved before they contacted
me, and we were unable to resolve it.
The reverse has also happened. A user opened her calendar and saw Appt. A
scheduled for a specific time. Everyone else in the department saw corrected
Appt. B (which had been updated recently) in that time slot, however.
I was able to see this problem in action, although we were again unable to
recreate it. We were able to resolve it by doing the following:
It seems for some reason Outlook was pulling info from her Offline Files
rather than from the server, and not updating the Offline Files, even when
restarting Outlook.
Used 'Clear Offline Files' from Calendar properties, which wiped out
everything on her Calendar. Did 'Send and Receive' and her Calendar
repopulated all entries, with the correct information.
The problem has become more severe lately, in that people are being double
and even triple booked, because information on shared calendars is not
updating correctly for anyone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is incredibly problematic for
our users.
We do have another department that is doing this same thing; sharing and
updating each otherâ??s calendars, and thus far Iâ??ve heard no complaints of
this problem. Tag: How do I make my calendar open to the current week not the current Tag: 97832
Periodically loosing the ability to add events to calendar
Hi, I have a user's workstation running Outlook 2003, SP3 connecting
to an Exchange Server 2003(6.5), SP2. Every day or two the user will
go to add an event to his calendar and he will be unable create any
new events. No error messages. the calendar just will not respond.
Other than that Outlook seems to function fine. After the user
reboots he can then add events to his calendar again.
I have completely uninstalled Office from his system and reinstalled
it. Nobody else connecting to the Exchange server has this problem.
I've looked all over TechNet and news groups and cannot find anything
that gives me any clues. Anybody have any suggestions?

Delegating rights to edit appointments
We have permissions that allow a manager's assistant access to their
manager's calendar. We tested this and have found an issue when the manager
created a LiveMeeting and then the assistant needed to change the date of the

that was included for the meeting. This sort of makes sense since they are

Cannot resolve a free/busy problem
I have a user who has access to two shared calendars (for meeting rooms). She
has identical access to both (the access was copied from her predecessor who
accessed both without problem), however on one she cannot enter any
appointments. She gets the error 'Cannot open the free/busy information'.
Similarly if she tries to save then she gets 'Cannot Save the free/busy
information'. She used to be able to access both fine, so I do not believe
this is a permissions problem as nothing has changed.
She is running Office 2007 on Windows XP Pro with Exchange 2000.
Other users can access this fine.
I tried all the usual /cleanfreebusy etc, but did not work. I also tried
deleting her profile on the PC. If I do this and she tries saving
appointments on the first log in to Outlook then it works. When she comes out
again it does not.
I removed both her local and server profiles (roaming profile), so
effectively creating a new user and got her to try again. This worked so I
thought it must have been a corrupt profile, however after working fine
yesterday she now has the same problem now that she has logged out and back
in again.
I'm running out of ideas. Any suggestions?
Many thanks

Unable to save Free/Busy Info
Hi all
I have searched through some other posts about this same problem and tried
what was suggested and I still get the same error message when adding new
appointments into Outlook 2007...reminders appear at the right time and if I
synch with my pda then info gets transferred over fine. Everything still
works but I just get the annoying message everytime I add in a new
appointment...
I have tried starting outlook 2007 with the outlook /cleanfreebusy switch
and get the erorr/message "Cannot clean your local free/busy information"
On looking at another post then I have tried setting the publish settings to
0 months and 1 minute (1 being the smallest amount of time that is valid).
I have also tried to create a new PST file just in case it was a corruption
somewhere and still get the same message. I am not using MS Exchange, this is
purely a standalone install
Has anyone else managed to solve this issue...its really annoying to get the
error message...apart from that then Outlook runs perfectly...
Thanks for any help anyone can give

Out of Office/Working from home flags
I like the way meetings are flagged in OUTLOOK (available, busy, tentative).
But with many people working from home (including me), there are 2 different
kinds of out of office. Sometimes when I'm "out of office", I'm totally
unavailable for anything (like I'm on the airplane), but other times, I'm not
in the office, but I'm fullly available for con-calls, webex, or other types
of non-face-to-face meetings (I'm WFH - working from home, or from a
different location).
It would be nice to be able to differentiate between:
Out of office but available; and
Out of office and unavailable.

Setting Snooze in Relation to Appointment?
When a reminder appears, how do we set the snooze for hours PRIOR to the

Sometimes there is a 'Snooze' option in the drop-down for '5 minutes' or '0

before the event? We have tried making manual entries using the syntax of
the two default options, but they are always rejected. As such, we only
have the option of selecting 'Snooze' reminders based on a user designated
time-period (minutes, hours, days, weeks) from the current time (versus from
the event). We would appreciate any help. Tag: How do I make my calendar open to the current week not the current Tag: 97764

Meeting request gives different times to different people
I have user A (Outlook 2000, Windows XP) who sent a meeting request to user B
(also Outlook 2000, Windows XP) and user C (Outlook 2000, Windows 2000).
When accepted, the meeting request creates the calendar entries like this:
Users A and C: 1 p.m. (the correct time)
User B: 2 p.m.
I have made sure that all users are in the same time zone in Windows and
that their clocks are reporting the correct time. Apparently this is the
second time this has happened, though the users report that it only happens
occassionally. Another meeting request made last week had no problems.
The only other issue I can think of would be that our network uses an
Exchange 2000 server that does not have the DST update that was released by
MS two years ago when Indiana changed their daylight savings time to start a
week earlier and end a week later. However this does not seem to have caused
any other problems regarding calendaring since the DST switch in 2005. Any
other ideas? Tag: How do I make my calendar open to the current week not the current Tag: 97748
