Hello all,

We are running a Windows 2003 domain. I was wondering, is it was possible
to set the default printer for a group of computers in AD? That way, no
matter who logs into the machine, their default printer is set to the one on
the server.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I would highly recommend deploying the Group Policy Preferences. This will
give you the ability to do this without scripts. Here are some links if
you're never seen them. I imagine you'll find a lot more things in there
that are incredibly helpful. The client side pieces are available through
WSUS now.

I can't add a Win 2008 or vista box to my network. Does anyone have a
working link to the program defprint.exe?

Take a look at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/resources/qanda/jul06/hey0719.mspx
Note that the sample script relies on target computers running XP -
otherwise (as the article suggests) you will have to resort to
SetDefaultPrinter method...

do you have Windows Server 2003 R2? With you should be able to distribute
printer connections to clients (computers or users) using GPOs. No need to
use W2K8. If you also do not have R2, then you need to create something
yourself
