Bizarre occurrence ...suddenly this AM users click on an https:// shortcut on
their desktops to a critical web-based application and the link doesn't work
because the shortcut has lost the 's' in https. So they are trying
unsuccessfully to connect using http://
Nothing has changed on the network.
Temporarily we are forcing out via Group Policy an Internet Explorer
Favorite with the correct https://
Checked all domain controllers using dcdiag...no issues. We don't manage
desktops via GP nor do we have 3rd party desktop mgmt utilities. Anyone have
any ideas as to what could have caused this?

The only reasonable thing I can think of is that the https:// website was
unavailable for some reason, when the users tried to connect IE automatically
redirected them to the non-secure page, but this should be a temporary thing,
it shouldn't be saved, but who knows??!!
