Hello all,

I am lost on this one. Is there a way to have non Active Directory
machines (XP) print to printers through an Active Directory printer
server? Sort of like the print services for nix that allow unix
machines to print through Active Directory.

Does the print services for nix basicly turn the print server into a
cups server for unix clients? Is there a way to set up XP machines to
print that way?

Are there any security settings that block this and if so can they
changed to allow it? I understand that it would not very wise to allow
anybody to print through Active Directory.

Thanks for your help

Marcin,

I did not consider it, but I am in the process of implementing it now
using this guide:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323428

I am allowing anonymous access using the IUSR account but when I open
up a web browser and type http://server/printers it still asks for a
password and will not let me connect.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Eric

Eric,
Does IUSR account have appropriate permissions to the shared printers?

I granted the permissions yes, I didn't do it to all of the printers
though

And I only granted the 'Print' permission, does the account need more
than that permission?

These computers are guests and the guest account is not activated by
default - for good reasons;)
Enabling this account will give access to 'everyone' .
