Hello,
The restore procedure will depends on:
-What's down and is it possible to put it back on
-Are all DC down ?
-What is your backup software and what it can do (ntbackup or commercial
one)
Some of the steps are there:
Disaster Recovery: Active Directory Users and Groups
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc162459.aspx
About restoring on different hardware, if you backup software can't handle
it, you may have to:
-install a fresh windows on it (with good drivers)
-Restore with your backup software, through AD Restore mode or not (if all
DC are down and to be restored)
Another alternative is to restore with backup but with inconsistence due to
the hardware change.
Then you can use Bartpe to inject the good drivers
