windows 64 xp crash

Ihave just gotten this pc made last week. I have used it for 2days now and
have gotten 2 death screens. one a day ago and on today.
I have a SCI u2w cdrom, controllerwith a plextor 40x and a 8/20 bundled
burner combo sys. I had done some WIN updates for this OS. Three non critical
up dates. the one I suspect causing my troubles was an IDE controller.
I lost one of my plextor cdrom the 40X. Windows did not see it also upon
bootup lost that drive reconizition which was F: and bootup was hanging on
IDE Scan which is a Atlas Fireball 20G.
My system configuration is Plextor 40X cdrom, an 8/20 Burner with an a
removable SCI drive an atlas fireball which these components were used in my
old system with WIN 98SE on the hard Drive.
I have WIN XP 64X on a raptor 70G hard Drive.
Since the update of the IDE controller which at bootup/scan reconizes the
atlas now but the WiN 64X OS is now hanging on the logo screnn . I cant get
into safe mode because after selecting begins windows logo then hangs up.
What can I do. I just got this COMP. done last week and have not made a
Recovery disk. I have try all functions in F8 mode but all functions hang on
the XP logo and system Frezzes causing another hard boot. Does any one know
how to recpover. I have OEM disk and comp. company that built sys states
only covers hardware.... What can I do... Please help. Also I am running
AMD4400 X2 Chip with Geforce 7600 GT Video Card with @Gig Ram. I have also
since usuing this new computer have gotten a stack dump error.

Start by getting the latest drivers for all you devices from their
manufactures. In the case of chipset drivers and many intergrated devices
you will probably get them not from the board manufacturer but from the
chipset maker, IE Intel, VIA, SIS, whatever. You will probably find the
latest SATA drivers there too. It has been my experience that most errors
that occur after a clean installation are the result of drivers needing to be
updated.

I have had good luck with the following method:

Install OS using F6 if need to install manufactures storage drivers during
install.
Install drivers in the following order after install:

Chipset drivers
Network drivers (if not part of the chipset driver set)
Graphics drivers
Audio drivers
Keboard / Mouse / Input device drivers

Service packs and patches (if you custome install hardware drivers, dont let
MS Update install drivers from download)

Try to keep stable chipset, storage, graphics, and network drivers on a cd
for post OS install. Even older stable drivers will allow you to connect to
the internet to get the latest ones. Many times I had to burn a cd to get
chipset and network drivers on a PC when Windows did not detect network
adapters because there were no drivers for them on the Windows installation
cd.
