You do indeed have a machine capable of running an x64 OS.

Yes your machine can run Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. Whether you
should or not is a different question. There's a useful whitepaper on the
Windows XP 64bit web site that I think should help you decide:

It you are confused (again) stick with x86. I suppose the "64" in AMD64
probably means you can run 64bit OS's. Ya think?

I get confused Danny, I tried installing xp 64bit and I got a message saying
that my machine wasn't capable of installing it, Thats why I posed the
question. Please don't assume that I am an idiot and I will equally try not
to assume that you are a Nerd

How are you trying to perform the installation? What was the *precise*
text of the error message? You can't perform an upgrade over any
existing operating system. WinXPx64 is available only as an OEM
license, so it can only perform clean installations.

Simply boot from the WinXPx64 installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (There is no upgrade possible from a 32-bit OS to
a 64-bit OS.) You may need to re-arrange the order of boot devices in
the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.

You have to boot from the CD, you can't start the install from a 32-bit
Windows system.
