Hello,
I finally found a x64 compability list; maybe someone else may have use for
it: http://ntcompatible.com/compat.php?cat=All&sort=WindowsXP64&idx=0

Tired with 64-bit version
Since i don't have 2 boot drives, i'd like to know how to uninstall the
64-bit version and replace it with my 32-bit version of xp? The 64-bit
version was a straight install, not an upgrade. Tag: x64 resource kit tools Tag: 7337
Active Sync 3.8 works partially
Active Sync can be installed and does a good job in sychronizing my HP4155

Problem is that when I click on the Explore button in order to explore my
Pocket PC, nothing happens.
Neither I can see my Pocket PC in Windows Explorer.

Acer DVC-V2 webcam driver
Does anybody know a workaround to make this camera work?
Acer sold the webcam division to Benq and they do not offer any support to

Can I install it as another camera whose driver is available somewhere?

I have a Oki C5100 Color laser. Just upgraded to X64.
I know the 32 bit drivers will not work on X64 and Okidata does not have any

Does anyone know a work around for this? Tag: x64 resource kit tools Tag: 7264
Order time for x64 is absurd...
I've had my copy ordered for well over a month now (after they finally
accepted my PID/COA) and it's still stuck on "you will be charged when
dispatched blah blah blah". The even better part is that the card I used to
make the order will expire as of tomorrow because hey, let's face it, who
expected to be waiting this long, and I will also probably be changing
address soon. Will this mean waiting all over again..?
Come on Microsoft. We could've gone out and bought OEM copies and have them
delievered from overseas in less than half the time it is taking to get
order requests to go through. Tag: x64 resource kit tools Tag: 7262

keyboard codes from external keys
hi everybody,
does anybody know a solution which does the following:
a set of "normal" keyswitches (simple connectors) trigger some
black-box-device which outputs keycodes to the PS2 keyboard socket.
so my application could read these codes and behave accordingly.
this is for the navigation on a fixed kiosk-system where there is a set of a
few press-keys rather than a normal keyboard, and no mouse interactivity.
thank you

ordering XP x64
Is it just me or does the ordering system really suck??
I tried ordering by entering my PID and the date i bought the pc, but no
luck, I get an error message saying Invalid COA format when I haven't entered
anything under COA, and I get a Label error under PID. What on earth is a
LABEL error supposed to mean?? (Worst error message ever) So I tried to email
microsoft using their link to the support for ordering XP x64, it opens
outlook 2000, i write the email and send it. Seconds later i have a new email
This is an INVALID email address. WHAT kinda drugs are those people on?? No
offence:p But could anyone tell me what i need to do if i haven't done it, or
tell me an address that works.
This is the address i used: To: 64bitupgrade@productorder.com

x64 will not boot after installing latest MS AntiSpyware
I received an update notification to inform me that a new build of MS
AntiSpyware was available. I duly downloaded and installed it. The
installation asked for a restart. After the restart, I got the following
message informing me that the \CONFIG\SYSTEM file was missing or corrupt.
I assume that this registry hive is damaged. My question is really to ask
whether the AntiSpyware installation could have caused this corruption, or is
it pure coincidence?
Any help on recovering the registry without having to do a complete
reinstall would be much appreciated. BTW, I have tried to boot from the CD
and do a repair install, but I suspect that the boot.ini file might be
damaged also.
Many thanks

Window refresh still doesn't work
Pardon me if this is an old subject. I was disappointed to find that in
WindowXP File Explorer, with files viewed as either Tiles or Icons, F5
(refresh) does not re-sort files by name. I was even more disappointed to
find that it still doesn't work in XP64.
Steps to recreate: In any explorer window with some files, select Arrange
Icons By - Auto Arrange by Name and View as either Icons or Tiles. Files
should be in alph. order. Drag a file or two out of order and press F5.
Every Windows release prior to XP would put file back in order. Why is this
still broke? Tag: x64 resource kit tools Tag: 7203
=?Utf-8?Q?IntelliMouse=C2=AE_Explorer_Not_xp64_?=
Hello,
I purchased a new 670 workstation with xp64 bit from Dell for my CG studies.
I also decided on the IntelliMouse® Explorer after researching for comfort
and pracitality:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=003
Attempted to install the mouse software, and my system tells me that the
mouse software is not supported by xp64bit???
I tried to check the website for updated software downloads, upon attempting
to install the download, I got the same incompatibility error.
I threw the box away becasue I didn't not anticipate a error like this since
this mouse is very new. I was also trying to get support here:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?med=online&prid=3911&trl=so&enty=pid&gprid=35454&ln=en-us&c1=502&as=1
But it form won't except my PIN number for my mouse.
I would appreciated any advice on where to proceed from here
Thanks

Just a question.

Printing to PDFs -- any way?
Adobe doesn't support this OS fully in Acrobat. Nearly all of their
software that I've tried works (CS 2 and AfterEffects), but the PDF
Printer Driver will not install. This is confirmed on Adobe's knowledge

Does anyone know of way to work around this?
Also -- if you are an Acrobat user please go to Adobe's suggestion

D-Link DSL 302g Driver
I have just got Windows XP Pro x64 Ed, and it installed like a dream, all my
drives IDE and SATA\RAID, My sound and display drivers are looking better
than they did on XP 32bit.
The only problem is that my ADSL modem DLINK DSL302g do not have any drivers
out for x64, nor do I think they will in the future. So now I am stuck with a
ADSL modem (connected via USB) that wont work, so I am forced to go back to
32bit XP if I want to use the internet etc.....
Could someone please let me know if there are any ways around this issue or
do I need to get another modem that does support x64??? What brands currently
support x64?????
Any information would be very helpful.

X64 on Acer 5002 aspire laptop
I just got this laptop today (really cheap too)
http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/as5000.htm it has an AMD 64 ML-30
turion processor at 1.6ghz but it comes with windows xp home. I was a bit
skeptical when I bought it because nobody seemed to be using xp64 on it. The
80gb hd comes in two fat 32 partitions, I installed xp64 on the second one
(converted to ntfs). Installation was smooth and uneventful.
The hardware on laptop was
broadcom 802.11g network adapter -> still searching for drivers
Realtek AC`97 audio -> I found and installed the 64bit drivers
Texas Instruoments PCI-1410 cardbus -> drivers installed by xp64
Sis 900 based pci-fast ethernet -> drivers installed by xp64
Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-833S -> drivers installed by xp64
SIS M760GX (graphics) -> to my surprise sis had a 64bit driver for it! yay
:) http://www.sis.com/download and follow the step by step.
Agere Systems AC`97 modem -> don't use it, so don't care.
So the Acer Aspire 5002WLMI can run xp64 if anyone wanted to know. I heard
the 5020 was a better laptop tho, I think it uses an x700 graphics card Tag: x64 resource kit tools Tag: 7173
No internet access
I recently installed Windows x64 without problem and now have a dual boot
system with XP Pro on a separate partition. At first the internet connection
worked fine on both OS's but now I cannot connect when using x64 (although
still OK on XP Pro). I connect via a Belkin ADSL wireless router which can
find the network (but not connect to the internet) when using manual settings
but cannot find the network when using automatic connection (cannot rtenew IP
adddress). The manual settings I have used for X64 are the same as those
used (and which work) for XP pro:
IP Address: 192.168.2.3
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.2,1
DNS Server 192.168.2.1
Any help with this problem would be appreciated. Thanks. Tag: x64 resource kit tools Tag: 7156

Oracle ODBC Driver for Win XP 64
I need an oracle ODBC driver to connect a Windows XP 64 desktop to an Oracle
9i database running on a Windows 2000 Server.
I have tried MDAC 2.8 SP1 install but it wouldn't run in Win XP 64. I also
tried MDAC 2.8 and MDAC 2.7 SP1; they installed but when you go into Data
Sources (ODBC) drivers tab only the SQL Server driver Lists.
I went to Oracle site and downloaded and installed Oracle ODBC for RDB
3.1.0.2.0; Install appeared successful but no Oracle Driver lists in the Data
Sources (ODBC) drivers tab.
In the past I have always just installed MDAC and the Oracle Driver was
there. Is there an Oracle ODBC driver from Microsoft or Oracle for Win XP
64? If so, is there some trick to make the ODBC driver installed show up
under the drivers tab?
Thank you. Tag: x64 resource kit tools Tag: 7113

Is it legal for someone to sell XP corporate to an individual on an auction

It seems like an inexpensive way to load XP on a bunch of your home PCs.

When the TAP Disk Arrives
(Hey, somebody wake up the old guy in the corner burning those cd's).
Once we do our clean install and register/activate what will happen to the
32 bit system...assuming it is an actively running OS.
Will it just blow up, stop booting or some sort of New and Improved "BSOD".
How will those in power find the OS? By CD-Key?
Suppose I acquired another OEM copy of XP Pro, could I just change the
CD-Key or would I have to do another clean install?
Just thinking ahead, trying to be proactive...
Again, being an optomist, I am assuming the TAP will be shipped some time
this millennia :) Tag: x64 resource kit tools Tag: 7064
WIN PE for x64 with 32-Bit Environment
Hello,
I have successfully manufactured my WinPE-CD for x64 with 64-Bit Kernel and
the Additional Components like ADO, HTA and WSH.
It works fine.
But from an earlier WINPE 32-Bit I use customised tools based on 32-Bit (
with 32-Bit-Dll's)
Is there a chance to emulate the 32-Bit environment on the x64 Win PE as it
is on the finished Win XP x64 Installation? (SYSWOW64)
If yes, what to do?
Which Dll's must be loaded, on which way the setup.hiv has to manipulate?
What else to do?
I know, the easier way is to compile the necessary Dll's to 64-Bit, but i
haven't the sources.
Many thanks,
best regards,

Lose data?
I have a RAID 0 array which i currently have partitioned and managed to
install the Windows x64 beta on a while ago, but I'm just wondering if when I
try to install the full Windows x64 will it try and erase the entire array
again? As when i installed the trial, it deleted all the partitions on there
and all my data was unrecoverable. Or is it possible to get it to reformat
JUST that one partition that the trial is on and install on that?? Backing up
300GB is not really an option, btw, as i don't have enough money for another
set of disks atm.

Does anyone know of an mpeg 2 decoder for Windows Media player that I can

I upgraded the video driver on the PC and now it appears that there isn't an
mpeg 2 decoder and it's needed to play back tv shows that I've recorded on

If I can't get an mpeg 2 decoder to work right now with this video driver,
then I may just uninstall the most recent video driver and see if "tivo to

Setting onboard soundcard to 6 channel
Hi All,
I'm running Windows XP x64 quite nicely on my system. The motherboard is an
MSI K8N SLI Platinum edition.
The only problem I am having is with the onboard soundcard (Creative Live
24-bit).
It does support all the way up to 8 channel sound, but I can't find a way to
set it.
The issue seems to be that the supplied software for the board (DigiCell or
something like that) won't run correctly on XP x64, and there are no BIOS
settings or anything that can be set.
As such, I'm stuck with only 2 channel sound, and I really want to set it to
6 channel.
Anyone know of a work-around? I contacted MSI, and they basically gave me
the brush-off.
Cheers & thanks,
Brendan. Tag: x64 resource kit tools Tag: 7019

Intel's Celeron takes the 64-bit route
Intel released a 64-bit processor for mainstream PCs on Monday, putting the
company a month ahead of rival AMD, which is expected to come out with a
chip of the same capacity in July.
Intel's new Celeron D 351 is the heir-apparent to the current Celeron D S775
processor series. The two chips are nearly identical, apart from the
addition of 64-bit processing technology, which Intel calls EM64T.
