I just downloaded WinXP x64 trial edition. When I boot off of the CD, after
setup asks to press F2 for Automated System Recovery, I get the error:

ntkrnlmp.exe. Error code 4. setup cannot continue.

any idea why? thanks

What type of media did you burn Windows XP Pro x64 to, Blank CD or CD-RW?
Try using a Blank CD instead of CD-RW. Also, is your BIOS updated? You may
also need to load F6 Drivers for any SATA/RAID hard disk you have installed.
A great place to get drivers is at http://www.planetamd64.com

Hello GoldEagle,
This can be bad Ram.
This could be a bad burn to the CD.
There could be a problem with the Cd-Rom Drive.
Almost always with this error it is a problem with the hardware or with
reading the data from the cd-drive.
Thanks,

The ram module is fine. I'm pretty sure about that. I'll try re writing the
CD. The ROM is fine too. All other disks work just fine. Could there be any
other problem? Thanks.

disable any overclocking. And use a RAM checker to be sure.

RAM can be a subtle problem that doesn't always show up the same in x64 as
it does in x86. For more on possible testers and solutions, see my blog:
