Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is designed to meet the demands of
customers
who require large amounts of memory and floating point performance.

A change from a 32-bit to a 64-bit architecture is a fundamental alteration,
as
most operating systems must be extensively modified to take advantage of the
new
architecture. Other software must also be ported to use the new capabilities.

Porting is usually required because of differences in the central processing
unit, operating system interfaces, different hardware, or because of subtle
incompatibilities in-or even complete absence of-the programming language used
on the target environment.

I am providing you with the webpage link which will help you to understand the
issue.

Our team is working on the software that will support 64-bit platform. Very
soon
you will have eTrust Products working on 64-bit Operating System.

If you have any other queries, please write to us and we will be happy to
assist
you.

Thank you for choosing Computer Associate. We look forward to seeing you in
future.

Assuring you of our prompt services all the time.

Have a good day!

Wait a minute. I have been using eTrust AV 7.1 on my XP Pro x64 for six
months. No problems. What is up with this post? Does the OP mean EZTrust?
I don't like the looks of this whole thing, given "Computer Associate"
should be "Computer Associates."

Colin, a friend of mine got this exact reply from CA. Even after providing
him with the link to eTrust 7.1, he continued to question it. I'm with you,
been using it for about 4 months, it's about as invivible an AV software as
I've seen.

Yes, there is no question. It is native 64-bit and I have gotten support
for it on x64 from CA. It was the first AV certified and supported fully by
any of the vendors.

One thing to note is that if you go to CA's website and navigate to the Home
User page you will be told by the live chat support agent that x64 is not
supported because that site deals only with EZTrust. You must visit the
Small and Medium Business page before you can find eTrust 7.1 support and
info.

This is why some folks claim that they contacted CA and x64 is not
supported. They visited the wrong CA group.
