i recently put together a new computer from scratch (middle of august 2005)

AMD 64 X2 4200+
DFI LANPARTY Ultra-D (updated bios)
1 GB OCZ Gold Edition (512x2) PC 3200
250 GB WD hard drive SATA
520W OCZ power supply
ATI x850XTPE pci-e x16
DVD . . .yatta yatta

with this i also got the x64 bit version of windows xp professional

i formatted my hard drive NTFS and then proceeded to install x64....at the
same point during the installation it would go to the BSOD....and give me a
differnet driver name everytime....i tried and tried and eventually gave up
and resorted to installing the 32 bit version of xp and it worked perfectly
andi have been using it ever since....

but now i have decided to come back the 64 bit version and i was curious if
anyone has any suggestions as to how to solve this problem so that i may go
ahead and use this O.S. i really want to use the full potential of my
chip.....

Did you load the SATA drivers when asked to press F6 if you wished to add
drivers? This is at the very beginning of the installation when the
installer is reading files into ram.

Make sure you have up to date drivers for all your hardware. Specifically,
you'll want to make sure you have storage drivers. You almost certainly need
to load storage drivers during the initial setup of Windows using the the F6
option to load additional storage drivers from a floppy. For more on F6
installation, see:

And for some more on the different modes for storage driver load during
setup, and why you care:
