Download VistaBootPro http://www.vistabootpro.org/ and restore the XP mbr.
If you did not change the boot priority in the BIOS when you installed
Vista, you will boot fine. Alternately, you can use the XP Install CD and
from Recovery Console, execute the commands fixmbr and fixboot

John,

Does VBPro 3.1 work from XP once the Vista partition has been deleted?
The previous versions of VBPro would generate an error (at least from XP
x64). Anyway, here's another link on how to get rid of the Vista Boot
loader:

It works from all versions of XP and Vista. If you only want to remove the
Vista entry in the boot options menu, then it is easy to do even after Vista
has been removed from the system. You can also easily use VBP to discover
and restore XP to the boot menu in the event you are having boot issues with
XP. It is a very savvy program. Once you remove the Vista entry from the
boot menu you should not see a boot options screen anymore since it does not
appear once there is only one option left.

I just got rid of that irritating boot screen from VISTA.

This is the way I did it.

1) Bootup from Windows XP CD=EF=83=A0
2) in recovery mode use the following commands --> fixmbr and -->
fixboot

Fast and easy does the trick.

Good Luck.
