    - Problem with HP Printer PSC 1401 drivers. Downloaded from Planetamd64 the right drivers.The latest drivers give the following error message: "The compressed (zipped) folder is corrupt or invalid". Tried this several times with the same result. Also tried going back to earlier drivers and know matter which I chose the download froze at 51% percent.     - X64 and the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX5000 Laser(Bluetooth) Does anyone have the same issue with the new bluetooth mx5000 set as me. Sometimes it seems that the mouse is being controled by someone else. I know this cant be right so i guess its a driver problam. You may be be able to describe it as a lag or some sort. The keyboard seems to have the same issue. Sometimes the typing lag just appears and the word is being written in my document 3 seconds latrer. Weird isnt it. The dongle is connected at the back of pc. But bluetooth should have a problem connecting.     - Upgrading trial to full. I have been running trial version of Windows XP 64 for a few months now and I don't have any problems with my hardware, drivers, and so forth.     - Network - Access denied If I click on the workgroup computer under Entire Network - MS Windows Network, the message comes up - \\computer is not accessable. You might have no permission..... Access denied. On the WinXP Pro machine everything is fine. On the WinXP 64bit machine I get the mentioned error. I tried already all sort of things: switched off fire walls, changed the computer name (there was a space in-between) entered fixed IP numbers, now I am back on auto, etc. The funny thing is if - I share a directory on the XP machine I can see and access it on the XP64 machine, only if I click on the workgroup icon I get the error message.     - kernel mode driver service fails to execute A new problem just started.. I try to run a program from the ASUS Support CD and am greeted with the message.. Can't execute the kernel mode driver service !! The event log shows an event ID of 7000 and a description that the file ASUSHWIO.DLL can not be found. The file IS there.     - Firefox problem on x64 Tonight I started using Mozilla Firefox to download some files -Print Server Administrator (for a network print server I have) and firmware -Real Alternative Wellllllllllllllll.... For some reason the files are not showing up on the desktop after I download them. They're there, but you can't see them. How do I know they're there you ask? Because when I click on the desktop FOLDER (right from firefox even) you can see the files alongside the rest of the icons that are already on the desktop. AND if I try to move the files from the desktop folder to the desktop, I get an "already there" error. Oh, here it is -- If i right click on the desktop and select REFRESH they show up.     - Help w/ admin. tools IE: Services According to AOL, I need to change two settings to get it to work. In admin Tools, click Services and go to PLUG &PLAY and REMOTE PROCEDURE (RPC) and go to properties, start system and set to manual. The problem is, both of these systems are showing as started AND on AUTOMATIC with all possible switches shaded out. If you any out there knows how to change this I would appreciate it.     - 0x0000007b on SATA HD from Installation CD only Asus P5WD2 Premium Motherboard Nividia N6200TC Video Hitachi 250gb SATA-II HD Corsiar 2 x 512 DDR2 Windows XP x64 Windows x64 clean install onto SATA-II HD on ICH7R controller, went with no problems or error messages, did not install any driver at the F6 stage of boot up. In BIOS SATA = IDE, since only running one drive. Machine runs fine with X64, all drivers installed in device manager, no exclamation marks or errors. See need to create two partitions and dual boot with XP32 and XP64. Run install CD to delete original partition and create two separate ones. All drivers load, install reaches "Starting Windows" pauses few seconds, goes to black screen, then to blue screen with STOP: 0x0000007b (0xFFFFFADFE4A323C0, with more codes. The machine should not have a virus. Nothing but OS and Word Perfect on here. Asus tech suggested installing ICH7R RAID drivers @ F6, no luck... Tried installing new drive, and making drive with problem partition slave, and deleting from there, no luck, same error. From hard drive OS boots and runs fine, no errors....     - Downloading from IE After installing XP 64 and XP on a new computer, I am unable to " download and save as" .wmv files from the internet. Instead, the files automatically download and play in Windows Media Player, no where are they downloaded on the HD that I have been able to find.     - DVD/CDROM Driver won't load I installed x64 last night with no problems, installed Office 2003, Koday EasyShare, and then out of nowhere I can't access my DVD-ROM or DVD-RW. Device Manager says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing.     - Problems with Outlook I did these steps: 1. Install WinXp64 in a new installation (formating the HDD) 2. Install Office 2003 in a striped volume. When I configure Outlook to work with Exchange 2003 SBS, the first time works good, then I quit and when I try to open again the following error stop me: No se pude iniciar Microsoft Office Outlook. No se puede abrir la ventana de Outlook. No se puede abrir este conjunto de carpetas. La conexión a Microsoft Exchange Server no se encuentra disponible.     - Getting on the net x64 I installed x64 on a New machine. Got around the driver problems for the hardware(Ithink) and would now like to go to the NET. Tried installing AOL (from a disk) using the Compatibility mode found in Accessories. The program starts to launch, but will not complete, thus denying access to the net. (I tried to load the disc without the "compat mode" but all I get is a phone number for AOL ) Anyway, I would like to get to the net on that machine If there are ANY answers for this I would appreciate it.     - office 2003 on windows server SBE 2003 64 bit trouble with printer drivers for this 64 bit OS, managed to update our PDF printer and find some compatible win XP 64 bit printer drivers, microsoft fax printer driver works ok, but msoffice 2003 document imaging printer driver doesnt. evrything else in office 2003 works ok. Any one got any ideas how to get MS office 2003 document imaging to "print" on this OS?     - Crash/Reboot with WorkLoad This seems to be the correct forum to ask: While windows in under heavy load machine will reboot or crash to desktop with no event ID. To be more discriptive here is an example that can be replicated: Windows Movie Maker (import a 750meg avi) Windows Media Player (Play a song) OR load just about any app that uses a constant stream of util% Before you suggest hardware problem: Benchmarks PCMARK2005 @6800 / 3DMARK2005 @7200 / PassMark @1100 Intel SpeedStep = Off Bios C1 = Off Running at 200X16 Setting Affinity to processor 2,3,4 still result in random crashes, along with isolating apps to its own processor.     - The one thing that makes me crash... ...in 64 bit, is the same thing that crashes me in 32 bit. It's playing music in the background while working in other apps. I usually have many things running, often all day without a reboot... InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, IE, Outlook... whatever. I can run stable all day long doing lots of photo work, distilling, network access, FTPing large files, downloading... I also like to run some music, usually using Media Player. If I do so, sooner or later I'll get a ga-ga-ga-ga-ga-ga stuttering sound and a blue screen, say when I'm printing or distilling. It doesn't happen often, but I can sense it coming sometimes. Once, maybe twice a day, if I'm using MP in the background. Otherwise I'm perfectly stable. I've had the same results in XP Pro. So what is it about media player that freaks out when I'm doing something else? It seems to happen when resources are low and memory leaking. Is there a good way to avoid this rare but annoying behavior? Does playing an MP3 put a strain on the system... is it a bug... should I be using Winamp instead? Just curious...     - Why I've switched to x64 After booting up in XP SP2 and clicking on my D Drive or my attached firewire drive, they would take like 12 seconds to open up. Now in x64 on the same computer, when I boot and click on those drives, they open up instantly. (It's the only factor that made me switch). Anyone know the reason for the difference? I'm trying to reinstall x64 on the second hard disk but I get the following messages when I setup using the x64 CD: 95608 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR] E: Partition1 [NTFS] 95612 MB < 78514 Free> 238473 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 atapi [MBR] C: Partition1 [New (Raw)] 238465 MB ( 238464 MB Free) Unpartitioned space 8 MB ***** I hit 'install on c: which is the 'empty' HD I want to re-install x64 on and I end up with the following: To install Windows on the partition you selected, Setup must write some startup files to the following disk: 95608 MB Disk 0 at Id on bus 0 on atapi [MBR] However, this disk does not contain a Windows-compatible partition ****** It goes on to say that it wants me to create a windows partition on this E: volume which has, of course my Windows XP Pro already installed. Not wanting to completely erase the XP Pro on E: is there any way to get around this and re-install Windows x64 on the C: drive (Volume, whatever)? or any way to successully re-install it? and keep XP Pro (and all my files) I've tried everything I can think of including altering the boot.ini, but to no avail. I'd also suggest you take a look at my recent blog (and the links off it) on
x64 Edition. Frankly, x64 Edition is not for everyone, and you may want to
consider why you're installing it, and whether it makes sense for you.
