Last year you could switch to x64 for free, but that TAP program is over.
Your chance now is a 120 days trial.

You're about 14 months too late to be asking the question. Please note
the date on that article: April 25, 2005. If I remember correctly, the
license exchange (you had to surrender a 32-bit license in exchange for
the 64-bit license), ended in July or August of last year.

Don't know about etc. but yes on all but HP. They have been very slow.
Check their site to see, and check planetamd64 also. Someone here also may
post a workaround or has direct knowledge if the HP site has a drive for
this printer. Lots of etc's don't have drivers and some have workarounds.
Be more specific, the os has been around about 1 1/2 years and posters here
have just about any equipment you can name. Good luck. You can try the 120
day trial version to see if it is right for you and dual boot so you can try
and still use your XP if you need it. Also, Vista trials are available.
RC1 is available on the Vista site in both 64/32 bit versions. Drivers for
Vista are still a work in progress, but my keyboard works perfectly in Vista
and lacks drivers and functions in X64.

I am confused, I was told that I couldn't install win xp pro x 64 as a
dual boot but would have to install as a clean install to the C partition. I
inserted the burnt ISO image and it says that I have to boot from the cd,
does it go on to give me the option of installing it to a created partition?

In order to install as a dual boot, you need to install XP x64 to its own
partition. Boot from the CD and choose the partition to install it to. Make
sure that there is no other version of Windows on that partition. Better
yet, format the partition.

1. You have to install from the CD.
2. You will have to create a second partition using a third party partition
manager, or better (and often cheaper), install a second drive and install
there

You can, of course, create the partition from the bootable CD, by deleting
and recreating one. Just make sure you've moved all the data off it.
Actually, if you've pretty much cleaned it off, and it never had another
version of windows on it, you don't really need to create a clean partition.

"Dual Boot" and "Clean Install" are two unrelated terms. You have to do a
clean install whether x64 is your only OS or an additional OS on your
computer.
