To add to what is said below:
I have a Belkin wireless network adapter and the driver didn't work (nor did
the company seem to be interested in coming up with any). Mine has the rt73
chipset, not rt2500. I found a Ralink driver for that chipset and it's been
working great.
However, I had to jiggle a few things, and at this point I don't think I'd
be able to remember exactly what I did (it's been three weeks already!). But
you should look at the planetamd64 site mentioned in the response and search
around for your wireless device in there and see what people say about what
you might have to do.
If you have to, you might even see what they say about Belkin wireless,
because some of the tweaks they mention in the Belkin discussion may have
something to do with your problem as well. I know it had something to do
with PID and VID settings and .inf files.
First see if you can get something to work via the Ralink site right "off
the shelf." If it turns out it doesn't, you may have to try some tweaking.
That's where this discussion may come in handy.
If it doesn't work, post back here and I'll see if I can recall what it was
I had to do exactly.
