Can anyone tell me how to enable the sound output on my new computer?

Intel D946GXis with Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
Windows XP Professional x64.

I first installed the audio drivers that came with the MBD, and had a
problem with the UAA Bus Driver for HD Audio. I downloaded the MicroSoft
Update KB901105 and the latest Intel driver ver 5.10.5208.exe.

I am now stumped as the sound and audio device in control panel still shows
"No Audio Device Installed". All the codecs are installed also under the
hardware tab.

Any assistance will be appreciated!

Did you check the bios to make sure that the integrated audio is enabled ?

Yes. The integrated audio is enabled in the bios.
