Does anyone know of a driver that will work for the HP LaserJet 1000?

Try the native driver for the HP Laserjet 1100 that comes with Win XP x64.
You have to cancel the automatic installation stuff and manually select the
driver from the list. It works fine and I haven't had any problems at all
with my HP laserjet 1012.

The 1100 should work fine. The models aren't all that different. You might
find:

Also:

I have searched (extensively, I feel) for HP LaserJet 1000 print drivers for
x64, and have not found one single x64 driver to work. I have tried every
beta driver for every hp printer as well as those that came with x64.

Has anyone done a beta driver for hp laserjet 1000? Has anyone gotten their
laserjet 1000 to work somehow?

HP's website stated that they'd have driver support by the end of the year,
and well, here we are less than 11 hours away from the new year, and still
no x64 drivers posted on their site!

Well, they may not make end of year, but if HP says they are working on the
drivers for it, I'd just be patient. HP is usually pretty good about getting
drivers out when they say they will, or at least close to it. I'm quite sure
you can print to your 1000, since I don't know a single HP that won't do at
least minimal printing.

Charlie,

I CAN'T PRINT. That's why I posted. I've tried every hp x64 driver
available.

what is an HP 1000? Sorry, but I don't know it. Is it a standalone printer?
A multifunction? Or is it <shudder> one of those attrocities that use the OS
to do all the work and have no language interpretter installed at all?

Given the price of printers today, I would have dumped it a long time ago
and replaced it.

OK, I see. It IS one of those abominations that doesn't have any brains at
all. I'm sorry, but NO ONE but HP has any chance of getting it to work. You
have two choices - buy a real printer, or wait. The current models, I'd go
for the 1320n - built in network connectivity, and does both PCL and
Postscript. No direct driver, yet, but it easily can be worked around since
it has the brains to handle either PCL or PS. The 1022 will also work, but
only in PCL mode. And I am alway leary of "host based printing" -- that's
code for we're going to force your OS to do something it's not designed to
do so that we can cut the costs even further. Oh, and compatibility be
darned.

I would surmise your research capability and reading comprehension may
need some tuning. I just went to the HP web site, and if you read the
information on the following page:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00439068&lang=en&cc=us

they tell you how to get you Laserjet 1000 working in Windows x64.

Workaroundback to top of page

As a workaround solution, the in-box drivers provided with the released
Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and Windows 2003 Server
64-Bit Edition may be used to provide for basic printing. As an example,
the HP LaserJet 4000 PCL 6 printer driver may be used for basic
monochrome printing on newer HP PCL 6 devices and the HP LaserJet 4550
Postscript printer driver may be used for basic color printing on newer
HP postscript emulation devices. Please review the supported HP printers
provided with the OS.

Rick, I don't know what part of "IT DOESN'T PRINT" you don't understand. I
HAVE seen that page at hp.com and it doesn't work. I've tried PCL drivers,
postscript drivers, all currently released hp x64 print drivers.

Perhaps it's you that may may need to tune their reading comprehension.
