DirectX 9.0c is installed automatically when the OS is installed.
Select Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System
Information. Then when that window pops up select Tools / DirectX Diagnostic
Tool and check your "already installed" DirectX settings.

It's already included with Windows.

As has been noted here many times before, DirectX 9 is already in there:

Select Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System
Information. Then when that window pops up select Tools / DirectX Diagnostic
Tool and check your "already installed" DirectX settings

(thanks to Steve Thompson for the steps)

A quicker way of finding it:
Click Start > Run type in dxdiag and press OK.

I'd rather click on Start, Run, type "dxdiag" (no quotes), click on "Accept".
It is faster for anxious people like me!

Gee. The OP posted this at 2:32 PM my time, and at 2:48 to 2:49, we had 4
answers for him, all saying the same thing -- It's in there! And we all
managed to NOT say "Try Search". <G> Heck, none of us even said "GIYF". We
are being well behaved today. :)
