I've just been thinking... If the orders opened up on the 25th of april...
wouldn't you think that at least *some* copies had been produced for this
25th date? Did *anyone* receive their Trade-In copies? If so, then that
clears everything up, they made a few, and ran out in the first day, right?

But I've not heard of anyone receiving their Trade-In copies... Just gift
copies and OEM purchases...

Isn't it strange that they didn't have *any* ready to ship?

FYI, I only recently ordered (my OEM COA wasn't being accepted until last
week), so I know I'm not gonna see it for weeks... I just found it strange
that the trade-in program would have been activated without any supply
(aparently). Anyone want to add some insight into this?

Lets put it this way, Microsoft's prediction about the adoption rate was
lower than expected. ;-)

I doubt they will ship any free copies until they have filled all the paid
orders, clearly the problem is not that they cant make them fast enough as
you can buy it anywhere

So its really all about processing the orders, but the encountered a
stampede from users wanting the OS, especially with idea to exchange license
for the upgrade.

I was very disapointed to see to see that my order is still Pending when I
got home from work at 11:00 P.M. Chicago Time Last Night. What is taking so
long?

Maybe Microsoft should think about issuing rebates so people can go ahead
and buy a copy now, and get a rebate on it later. :)

Microsoft should of formed better alliance with industry partners to help
distribute the software, through local computer stores such as Best Buy,
CompUSA, Circuit City and many others, it would have been much easier.

By releasing it as an OEM product, Microsoft doesn't have to support the
software. That is now up to their OEM partners to support it. I think that
may be why some people in the industry aren't talking this release very
seriously. :'o(

Just do what I did - install the trial, and use that. There's no way Zomax
is so deeply and irreparably screwed up that it'll take them 120 days to ship
that disc. Therefore, the trial is enough for now.

On the other hand, if I were doing a corporate deployment, I'd never go with
this strategy. But it's fine for my home machine.
