Hello All,

Just before I attempted to intall Tivoli Storage Manager onto one of my X64
based
systems I thought I'd read the readme.

I managed to find the comment below -

On Windows XP 64 bit with SP1 applied, the TSM Backup Archive GUI
(dsm.exe) will fail to launch, issuing a message "ordinal 6880 could not
be located in dynamic link library mfc42u.dll". This is due to a problem
with the Microsoft Foundation Class libraries shipped in SP1. Refer to
Microsoft Knowledge Base article 814415 for details on this problem and
instructions on how to obtain and install the fixed level of mfc42u.dll.
This problem is not present in Windows 2003 Server 64 bit.

Having trawled through pages galore I can't find anything to do with the
Knowledge Base Article 814415.?

Has anyone any ideas.?

Cheers

Stephen

If Tivoli used the actual correct product naming in that, they are referring
to the Itanium version of Windows XP which is no longer available. Not the
x64 version of XP - Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. And from the
descriptions, I think that they are, in fact, talking about the ia64
version, not the x64 version. I would contact Tivoli and verify the status
against x64.

Hello,
Charlie is correct. He is reading the platform correctly.
That article would apply to the Itanium version of Windows XP, which is no
longer shipping.
This should not be an issue with the X64 version of Windows XP

<rant>
Tivoli is a Trojan, as viewed from the client side. Very intrusive and =
causes many problems. (Don't argue, I'm just ranting.)

I hate Tivoli with a passion... and the horse it rode in on...

I have always been on the client side, at work, and have spent untold =
numbers of hours just cleaning up and correcting the messes it has =
made. The network folks pushed it to me, not giving me any choice in =
the matter. It, or the network operators, then proceded to crash one of =
my major programs several times, the last crash causing many files to =
become corrupted. That crash took over three days just to recover. =
Needless to say, the network folks were real eager to give me a Tivoli =
exception when they got the bill.

Now, as long as I can keep my work on all on that computer, I don't have =
Tivoli Trojan to contend with. I like that!!!
