Vista Ultimate 64 Bit

How do I reduce my Vista to 32 bit so McAfee will work till they fix their
problem?

You wipe out the current installation, reformat the hard
drive and install the 32-bit version.

There is no other way to "reduce my Vista to 32 bit" because
they are 2 distinct operating system; one is 32-bit and the
other is 64-bit!

You're talking about a complete clean install of the 32 bit OS, then
reinstall all applications. There is no up/downgrade or "reduce" method
available. Not to mention that if you did not buy Ultimate, you'll have to
send away and wait for the 32 bit version.

Rather than do through all that because of McAfee, have you considered
locating and using a different product that will provide the same
protection?

As I'm not running 64 bit, I don't know offhand if any of the free
anti-virus programs support 64 bit, but you can start looking at AVG
(www.grisoft.com) and Avast (www.avast.com).

AVG is no longer a free antivirus software and they do not support 64bit.
However, Avast is free, and they support 64bit :) You would be better off
with avast instead of avg.

Thanks for confirmation on Avast, however I beg to differ on availability of
free AVG.

Go to:

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

and you'll see that there is still a free version of AVG 7.5.

I could not, however find a definitive statement about Vista 64 support.

I'm using Avast for Vista Ultimate 64 bit and it works great and have been
very happy with it. Check out their website for the latest version. It is
free.
