Just got win vista 64 bit home premium. did not install any drivers 1st off,
tried some games, movie files, etc and the computer freezes forcing a hard
reset. tried installing nvidias chipset and video drivers with the same
thing. tried my sound blaster audigy 2 zs gamer-same, removed it then tried
the onboard sound and it still locks soon as i start something that utilizes
demanding video. everything else seems fine, web browsing, email, usenet etc.
It tells me that every nvidia driver was not digitally signed and a couple of
times i had a 'windows failed to start because one or more files could not be
authentically verified' or some similar message. is there a way to disable
the driver verification in this ver of windows? or anyone else experience
similar behavior and how to fix? much thanks for any info provided.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra 939
AMD X2 4800+
2 GB mem
2x hdd raid 0

The latest video drivers from nVidia work fine here, the ones from Microsoft
update were horrible.

i tried the last 9x.xx release from nvidia, have the beta 100.64 on it now
and it just doesent perform at all hardly before it locks. cant even use the
nforce 3 chipset drivers, thats where i get the 'windows cannot start' error
and have to use last known good menu to get back into windows.

At the moment I have the 100.54 video drivers working well. I have the
nforce4 and 590 chipsets. It might be worthwhile for you to do a memory. Do
you have any entries in your log files.

I've ran memtest86 recently and it returned no errors. I havent done the
memory diags in windows tho. As far as the logs go, I dont see anything
related to my problem there. Seems like it locks before it can write an
event. 100.54? I dont see those on the nvidia web side could you post a link?
Thanks for your replies.

Nvidia is not too happy about their own drivers, as they still seem to
recommend Windows XP for their products.... :-))
But then, these are beta-drivers, so you can expect some troubles. If you
want a perfectly working Vista-machine, it's best to wait a bit before
upgrading to Vista, untill all the drivers are ready for your hardware. It
saves you a lot of headache trying to fix things.
