Hello,

I purchased a new 670 workstation with xp64 bit from Dell for my CG studies.

I also decided on the IntelliMouse® Explorer after researching for comfort
and pracitality:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=003

Attempted to install the mouse software, and my system tells me that the
mouse software is not supported by xp64bit???

I tried to check the website for updated software downloads, upon attempting
to install the download, I got the same incompatibility error.

I threw the box away becasue I didn't not anticipate a error like this since
this mouse is very new. I was also trying to get support here:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?med=online&prid=3911&trl=so&enty=pid&gprid=35454&ln=en-us&c1=502&as=1

But it form won't except my PIN number for my mouse.

I would appreciated any advice on where to proceed from here

Thanks
MouseSnob

They keep saying sometime as to Intellimouse and Intellitype. Logitech has
said this month, but looks like they will be late. Good luck when they do
deliver, half the options probably won't be in it, like Longhorn is going.

Logitech Drivers have been out since Monday....

The latest Setpoint is 64 bit compatible...
Logitech also has 64 bit drivers for their game controllers.

Guess we know which company cares more about their customers...

It is even more sad when you consider that Microsoft "wrote" Windows XP
Professional x64 Edition, yet can't seem to write 64 bit compatible drivers
for their keyboards and mice.

We do not write the drivers for the Microsoft keyboards and mice - they are
OEM, in the classic sense of an OEM product that is rebadged.

Mike;

The point is taken, still one would think that Microsoft would have some
power to coerce the OEMs to port the drivers for them.

You should still be able to use it. The only thing you would not be able to
use are the extra features such as the "my favorites buttons"
I have the same mouse the only difference is thath is the bluethooth
version. All I did was to plug in the transceiver to a USB port, windows
detected it and installed it.

You might consider moving up to a Logitech Mouse/Desktop. Not only is their
build quality much better than the Microsoft offerings, but they have 64 bit
drivers.

It not just the buttons, the 'click to' doesn't function and the speed is

Wasted $40 ?

This mouse's middle wheel has such a lag that I'm suprised its a microsoft
named product.

I have to scroll 5 times and them the page starts to scroll. What's the heck?

Will the software make it work better?

Yes, if and when they get around to writing it. Without the software, I
have to move the mouse to the edge of the desk, pick it up and move it back
to the left, put it down and finish my move just to get slowly to the other
side of the screen. I hate it.

Maybe you can return it and get a Logitech mouse. I have read here that
they now have 64-bit drivers for it, though the last time I visited their
site they only had gaming console drivers in 64-bit. Make sure what drivers
they have in 64-bit and go get that mouse.

Logitech seems to be the only one who is driving 64 bit across all their

Does the pointer speed option in Control Panel -> Mouse not handle what you

Thanks. It handles most of what I want. I have been using Intellimouse for

Maybe I just lucked out but I use the Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 wireless
(bundled with wireless MS keyboard) and I haven't had any of these troubles.
First thing I did with the software disk was toss it in the round file
though. They were attached during initial load so only the built in drivers
are being used. Keeps me from being able to assign macros to the extra
buttons but they still show up in games.
