I received my evaluation CD in the mail today. Before I install it I'd like
to know what my options are at the end of the 4 month trial.

Specifically, if the option to purchase the retail version is available, how
much will Microsoft charge for the license?

Also, will I be able to use the evaluation CD along with the license key in
the future if I decide to upgrade my hard drive, or build a new computer?

Thanks!

I know that after the trial expires you can acquire the full OEM version and
do an inplace upgrade without loosing any data if standardized on x64 during
the trial period. If you plan on re-using the Trial again, you have format
the hard disk and do a clean install.

If you are using the technology exchange program with Microsoft, you
exchange your existing Windows XP Professional 32 bit license for x64 which
you will receive the CD to install the full software. Trade off, you 32 XP
Pro license will be deactivated preventing future activations.

The cost will be what Windows XP is costing today from OEM sources. Look at
newegg.com, ncix.com, directron.com, whomever your favourite vendor might be.

The price doesnt change due to using a trial product. You will have to pay
whatever the standard rate is from an OEM.
