    - License Conflict Between x64 And Windows XP Pro English(32-Bit)! Hello, I would like to ask about a problem i am having and i have searched anywhere i could possibly imagine.Unfortunately,i came out empty. I own a couple of operating systems which are genuine.An XP Pro (32-Bit) and an x64.Both are english.I Haven't installed them yet to my computers.My Question is this: Can I register them both in my name,through microsoft activation? I'm asking because i've heard that if you register an XP(32-Bit) and after that an x64 to the same name, the registration of the XP 32-Bit operating system is automatically cancelled!!!!!!!     - Lexmark Printer (All-In-One) - Driver? I have a Lexmark X6170 All-In-One printer (new). Works fine but Windows XP64 doesn't work with it. Lexmark has no drivers to suggest. (On their website or email tech-support) It seems to be a relatively straightforward printer. Any suggestion for another driver I might be able to use with it to print?     - IE 7 Beta won't work on 64? I thought I would try IExplorer 7 beta to see how it works, but it will not install under 64bit windows. Did I get the wrong download?     - Networking problems I have three computers on a home network using a router. One computer is running XP64, the others are running Win XPPro. When I set up my network the XPpro computers see each other but they do not see the XP64. The XP64 does not see the other two. When I select "see workgroup computers" on the XP64 there is a long pause and then I get an error message that I do not have access to that resource. I am logged on as Adminstrator when this happens. I set the network up as accessing the internet through a network hub. I can access the internet on all 3 computers. I've checked the firewall (AVG 7.1) and that doesn't seem to be the problem.     - Where's my second CPU? New install of WinXP x64 edition. The first couple of times I booted the system, Windows detected a multiprocessor system, and asked me to restart to finish the installation. I restarted.     - Virus? Firewall? Hi I was browsing through three or four pages. My system suddenly hang and I had to restart. On restart 'Adware' had an alarm that certain registry keys are being modified. I tried blocking the changes but don't know what happened a total of 28 registry keys were changed and all of the executable files were changed to the extension '.lnk' and I could not run anything not even Internet Explorer. But I wonder, all the drivers were working fine. I have Mcafee Enterprise 8.0i; but still it could not work. Could it have been because of a firewall problem as I use the built in firewall of Windows? I formatted and reinstalled everything on the root partition.     - Looking for samples, links, etc. for Activex 64 I googled for hours searching for whether is it even possible to create 64-bit activex (.ocx) for IE64. Many articles I found on the net (including postings on this board) say that "...most folks have yet to re-write their 32-bit activex for IE64" which led me to believe that it's possible to do so and there is an activex control out there written for IE64. Can anyone point me to some sort of tutorial or demo of such control ? I found this tutorial http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/Code/2003/March/ActiveXInNet.asp . I haven't tried to recompile this one for IE64 which seems it is possible. However, when I ran this on IE32, no control got downloaded to Downloaded Program Files folder or displayed on "manage add-on" window.     - Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 localised into spanish As far as I know, x64 versions of Windows Server are not localised into any language but english. We need to install the english version and then install the right Multilingual User Interface Pack on top of the english installation. Is this also correct for R2? I saw some days ago (in http://licensing.microsoft.com , products download area, selecting the product Windows Server Standard) that the Spanish localised version of R2 was already available, but only 32bits version! However, in our case (we have just bought a dual Xeon server) we would like to install R2 x64 but localised into spanish. What would be the downloads that we need to do and the steps to follow in order to achieve this? Note: We have VLKs (among others) for: Win Server 2003 R2 x32 Ed. The basic behaviour of Win2003 Std w/SP1 is localised, but the new things included with R2 are in inglish. Might I need to install the MUI ##before## the second CD of R2? There are no x64 printer drivers for the printers I want to deploy, but I can install comptible printer drivers.     - Any chance of a Vista price break Admittedly an off-the-wall question: When Vista comes out, what do you think the chances are that people with retail versions of XP x64 will get a price break? 1) We are, in a sense, beta testers of the 64-bit world. 2) I assume it would be an easier transition from x64 to Vista than from any 32-bit version of windows. However, while researching it I have run into some confusing points. So, at the risk of looking like a complete idiot, I wonder if someone could please clarify these points: * While perusing through the security updates available for x64 on Technet Download Center, I noticed that in the Product Selection menu, you could select between two versions of x64, "Windows XP Professional 64-Bit Edition" and "Windows XP Professional 64-Bit Edition Version 2003". I wasn't aware there were two separate distinct versions of Windows XP x64? *Further, if I selected "Windows XP Professional 64-Bit Edition", I can choose between the gold or SP1 version. I wasn't aware there was a Service Pack available for Windows x64, and searching for additional information turned up nothing? *Finally, when comparing the three different versions of 64-Bit (Windows XP Professional 64-Bit Edition Gold + Windows XP Professional 64-Bit Edition SP1 + Windows XP Professional 64-Bit Edition Version 2003 Gold (There is no SP1 for the Version 2003 Edition), I noticed the security updates seemed to be the opposite of what one would expect (This is when "redundant" updates are selected not to be shown, but updates of every severity are shown): Windows XP Professional 64-Bit Edition Gold: 40 Updates Windows XP Professional 64-Bit Edition SP1: 41 Updates Windows XP Professional 64-Bit Edition Version 2003: 62 Updates Last, there appears to be a mistake in the download center, in that versions of Windows Server 2003 are listed in the Service Pack selection dialog when versions of XP x64 are selected, despite being two separate OS's.     - nVidia Drivers I'm having constant crashes due to nv4disp.dll and nv4_mini.sys. I have an AOpen 6600GT video card. The crashes mostly happens when I'm playing World of Warcraft. I've searched everywhere to find a solution, with no results. I've updated my BIOS to the most recent version, and I'm using the most recent release of the nVidia drivers.     - I think I have dll conflict 1. Fineprint x64 prints blank pages, but sometimes, it works. 2. Terratec DMX 6fire emits stray static noise in the analog outputs occasionally. The digital output always works flawlessly. I email Terratec but they had never seen the problem. I removed the Terratec beta driver and reinstalled it, then Fineprint and the sound card work without any problems......until I reboot the computer.     - MS wireless model 1027 keyboard & Mouse I have a MS wireless photo keyboard (model 1027) and wireless Intellimouse explorer 2.0. I installed it using the disk that came with it, everything worked fine until about a week ago. Now whenever I boot my system it will go through the Windows XP logon screen, prompt for my password and then it will start to loose power as though there is a loose connection. It will then shut down and reboot, it may go through this process several times before it gets a "good connection" and stays on. I narrowed it down to this problem by using a hard wired keyboard and mouse which eliminated the problem. I reinstalled the drivers from the disk and also checked the MS web-site for updates. A friend mentioned that since I have "Automatic Updates" turned on it is possible that MS updated a driver that caused the problem. Its on my system and working (in a fashion) however none of my software seams to work now, Quark, Corel, Adobe and even my security is down.     - Windows Vista 5308 64bit Hi I installed Windows Vista 5308 Beta 64bit on my Acer 5002 WLMi. It took a massive 10GB hard disk space. The first window I got after running it had a 'Not Responding' message! Windows Vista has an amazing look with a lot of softwares pre installed. So you don't have to install softwares such as Windows Defender later on. I tried installing the drivers I installed for Windows XP X64. The AC97 driver got installed perfectly. The SIS VGA driver was giving some repeated errors during installation but still the files and drivers were installed. Sadly, the SIS VGA (SIS M760GX) is highly unstable on vista.     - My upgrade from evaluation to full went well... Ok, upgrade went reasonably smooth. I upgraded from within Windows rather than booting off the CD. Chose the option to upgrade from there. The one issue I had was when prompted for my nForce mobo drivers. For those of you without a 2nd computer, make sure you DL the drivers and unzip them on a CD before upgrading. Fortunately, I have other workstations, so I created a CD on one of them. The other issue was that during the installation of the mobo drivers, the USB won't work until the driver installation is complete. Which means...if you have your keyboard and mouse plugged into USB, you're sunk. I had to dig up the USB / PS2 converters that I had deep in my junk drawer so I could reboot and be able to click through the installation.     - A8n32-sli deluxe possibly the problem? The problem is, one, my xp proffessional copy won't install, because its pre-servicepack 1 or 2, pretty much the first cd outa the factory. I couldn't get windows to update, or install dx9 or my nvidia drivers or my asus drivers, i basically couldn't get my copy to install, so i got this trial, and probly am gonna purchase it(i was ignorant and didn't no that you could run both 64 and 32 bit, i thought it was solely 64 bit(none of my games!!!)) the deal is, both my mouse and keyboard are usb driven, not ps2. After restarting, or shutting down, crashing, no matter how i restart my computer, when windows reloads, the: Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller. always comes up with an error, disabling my usb devices. so i had to kipe my roomates ps2 mouse and swap(major degrade from my razer diamondback le to a MI micro innovations mouse...) to get around in windows with some sort of input device. to get them to work, i uninstall the standard openhcd usb host controller, then on usb controllers i tell it to scan for new hardware, and it finds and gets everything up and running correctly. the usb ports work at the bootup screen from bios all the way up until about 2 seconds from leaving the "Windows xp x64 edition" blue scrolling bar screen. then the num-lock key turns off and no more keyboard. Going to a ps2 keyboard is not an option, as i have a logitech g15 keyboard(i spent way to much on my usb input devices to have to deal with this shizen) I have all updates from logitech, windows, and I just went to asus and there usa download site is down temporarily, but i no i have the latest bios and i'm sure that there arn't any updates there. so i am just clueless, is there someway to lock the device manager out from resetting? thanks in advance -- You are only who you are when no one else is looking.     - Avoid HP Color LaserJet printers Background: Bought an HP 3500N last fall, to use in our server room. Status: Useless when attached to server. HP cannot provide a good x64 driver, even though all sales materials claim x64 is supported. Multiple calls to HP support over a four month period yield no joy. Combine that with no good DVD burning s/w for backups being available and you have a really "red-headed stepchild" of a product. You may not need a driver, it may already be in the Win x64 package. I
have a Kodak USB smart media reader and it doesn't require any driver
installation in either Win XP Pro 32-bit or Win x64.

Have you tried using your reader? If it didn't work, what brand/make
and model is it?
