Should I leave my ReadyBoost drive set ti "Index for faster searching"? Is
this a waste of resources?

No. It's a paging file.

I suspect it makes little difference whether you leave indexing as is or
turn it off especially if you do not use the drive for the second purpose of
storing some file on it. Windows will not attempt to index the cache.
However, if you do use the drive to store some files, indexing will occur.
