My motherboard is the A8N-SLI Deluxe with the AMD Athlon 64 3200+ CPU. I am
running two Seagate Serial ATA drives set as Raid 0 (stripping). I have
successfully installed Windows XP Pro (32 bit) on this system using the 32
bit raid drivers for both the Silicon Image and NVidia nforce 4 Sata Raid
controllers. I run into the same problem trying to install Windows XP Pro x64
bit regardless of which sata raid controller I use to try to install it. I
have upgraded my bios to the latest release and have also downloaded and
tried the latest 64 bit raid drivers for both Silicon Image and Nvidia
Nforce. I press F6 on installation startup and succesfully get both drivers
for both controllers installed at the point in installation where you hit "S"
to select the driver from disk. After installation successfully copies some
files from the installation CD to the stripped sata drives, it attempts to
read something from the disk and states that the data on the disc may be
corrupt. I have tried serveral copies of the driver files in several
versions. I am at a complete loss. The same error happens for each controller
after successfully copying some of the files to the drives. Help!?

You don't mention if you use two partitions on your raid. I don't think you
can have both 32 and 64 bit windows on the same partition.
When exactly does the error occur during the installation?
I myself were not able to get either XP32 or XP64 running on a Sata-I disk,
only IDE or Sata-II worked for me.

I have tried using it with two sepparate partitions, then I wiped my XP 32
bit installation completely and went to a single clean partition to try to
install x64 on. Same issue in all cases.

It gives the error shortly after it starts to copy files to the stripped
drives. It is almost as if the installation decides to look at the 3.5" disk
drive to copy the raid driver files to the drive and then decides that they
are no good, even though the system is successfully using them at this point
(hence the files that is seccessfuly copies from the installation cd to the
stripped drives.

Maybe you should try an install on one drive only first, to se if the
problem is related to Raid or not.

Installs fine on a single drive with raid disabled. The problem is getting it
installed with either raid controller.

Which driver/bios versions do you use?
Have you tried the Asus forum for this? They sometimes have a lot of
"experience" with this kind of problems.

Bios Versions Used:
1013
1015

I am not sure which driver versions off hand for the Nforce raid... I think
off hand they were 6.66 and 6.69, but I am at work now and don't have the
info handy (and asus' support website is down...)

If asus has a forum, I can't find it, particularly when their support site
is down.. You have a direct url?

Thanks

Any chance you can roll back drivers or BIOS?

I think a few here have found that to be the ticket... older worked better
(newer not at all). Counter-intuitive, but sometimes that's how it works.
