Setup works fine.
But if I start the Remote Desktop Connection Software I get the following
error:

---------------------------
Remote Desktop Connection
---------------------------
The Terminal Services ActiveX control (mstscax.dll)
does not match the version of the client shell.
---------------------------

Does anyone have a solution?

Question is, why did you download it when its already included in the OS?
Someone recently posted in the x64 newsgroups that they cannot find the
Remote Desktop Client software at all in Windows XP Professional x64
Edition. They checked under All Programs > Accessories > Communications, but
it was not there.

If you encounter this issue, here is an alternative to launching it:

Target:
%SystemRoot%\system32\mstsc.exe

Start In:
%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

That was also the reason why I downloaded it.
But now it works with that allready included version.
Thanks a lot, Andre!

By the way: Is there no possibility to get access with that tool to a
Windows 2000 Professional system? There is no component for the Win2k
system, isn't it? For Win2k Server it exists, no?

Its possible to access remote clients, XP or 2000 from a Windows 2000 Server
if you have Terminal Services installed. You can't remote a Win2k Pro
machine though, but you can with the Remote desktop client installed on
Windows 2000 Professional.

Win2K professional did not support Remote Desktop. Only Server at the 2000
level. XP was where they added Remote Desktop.

Actually, I should have said you can remote desktop a XP system with the
Remote Desktop client installed on Windows 2000 Professional.

... and there is no chance to get that (-> remote a win2k prof. machine)
working on a win2k prof?
i thought there is no big difference between the server and the workstation
of win2k?!

No, it's a feature that was not, and is not, available on Win2k
Professional. I'd suggest an upgrade to XP Professional would be your best
solution.
