The manual describes creating the default factory image only (which I've
done). I didn't think it would help me with setting the laptop up for dual
booting but more to restore the laptop to the state I was trying to get away
from :)
Coupled with the fact that the laptop came preinstalled with an application
to reset the desktop wallpaper to the bright and cluttered ferrari calendar
on reboot (and who knows what else) and FAT32 partitions instead of NTFS, I
felt that it would be better to do a clean install (besides, I like getting
my hands dirty and knowing what goes into my laptop).
I was hoping to be able to use the key on the sticker under the laptop for
both x86 and x64 versions, then my problem would simply be getting the media.
I've since read up more, and realised that upgrading the trial x64 install
was not the simple matter of entering a proper key, but a repair.
I would appreciate suggestions for the best way to dual boot my machine
without unnecessary expenses.
PS: I've since discovered, after converting both FAT32 partitions to NTFS,
that the pre-loaded harddisk imaging software only runs on FAT32 partitions -
FWIW.
