I think that I have mistakenly deleted files necessary to operate the DVD
(read mode). CD-ROM is OK. System check reports that the device is OK, but
still won't read a DVD. I have new S/W to load, and it is in DVD format.
Anyone know where I can find drivers for a generic CD-ROM/DVD? The computer
is a refurbished DELL 2.4 GHz., and has no XP Disc. Of course, the computer
is out of warranty. I have a disc for another computer with the XP OS, but
not sure if I can get the files that I need off of this disc or not. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

What OS are you working with? What kind of disks are you trying to read?
The drivers are Microsoft, but you may be missing the codecs necessary to
interpret your content.

The operating system is XP PRO, and the discs that I am trying to read are
new DVD copies of Street Atlas USA, which I use for mapping programs. Thanks
for the question.
