    - AV software recomendations Does anyone know of AV software that works well on W2003 x64 ? We're currently using Symantec AV Corporate on 32bit servers, but I've had a look at the x64 client that ships with AV Corp10 and it won't update it's signatures from the parent server, it has to use Live Update which I won't work through our proxyservers.     - Asus SK8V Opteron board dead on network Win2K3 Server x64 installed with no issues except intergrated LAN is unknown. Uninstalled device to let windows find it again. Point directly to 64-bit *.inf drivers from Marvel and fron PlanetAMD64 (2 versions). Windows refuses to load drivers. I can't figure why MS would release code for servers and not cover basic LAN drivers. Come on MS, there are only so many Opteron boards on the market.     - problem running 64bit os i recently tried to install both the xp professional 64 bit os and the server 2003 x64 os. they both install without a hitch, but when windows attempts to start up for the first time it just restarts my machine after what appears to be a memory dump screen.(it flashes off very quickly) after the splash screen for the os it is being installed on a pair of sata drives but also on a normal ide drive as well with the same issues... my cpu is an amd64 winchester core and i have an asus a8v deluxe mb with corsair xms ram...everything is at stock (as in no overclocking) and has the most current bios versions installed. are these os not going to run or are there any ideas you can give me to get this installed anyways thanks in advance for all the assistance Tag: Product Key Tag: 853

    - x64 with a ps/2 mouse and USB gfx tablet; Possible problem found To cut a long story short, I use a Logitech MX1000 in the ps/2 port (USB tends to lag on 32-bit for some reason). I also have a Wacom graphics tablet in a USB port. Under 32-bit XP this causes no problems whatsoever, and I can switch between the two whenever I like. Now... x64 picks up the mouse as a ps/2 compliant, and the Wacom works as a mouse (listed as HID under mice) too. There are no problems using the Wacom as a mouse. If however I switch to use the MX1000, the horrendous lag problems occur with it. Every few seconds, the mouse starts behaving erratically, jumping or pausing for a few seconds, making games unplayable and Windows use generally quite unpleasant. However, if I unplug the Wacom tablet, instantly the problems disappear and the mouse performs as normal. Bug? Unusual conflict..? Recommendations? (Yes, my drivers are all up to date for the record ;) After all, x64's vast memory is often purported to be most useful to people working with graphical or video applications AND for games, and a lot of people thus may have exactly this kind of configuration.     - NF4 SLI Problems Have a DFI NF4 SLI-DR Lan Party motherboard with 2 XFX 6800 GT video cards. With 32BIT WinXP it will go into SLI mode as soon as you enable it in the video drivers.     - VIA Chipsets and SATA Drives I'm getting tired of saying this, but SOMETHING CHANGED BETWEEN RC2 AND RTM! The drivers that worked during the early days of the beta for using SATA drives in VIA chipset motherboards (A8N, A8V, amongst others), WILL NOT WORK RIGHT WITH THE RELEASED VERSION! Please. READ the messages here, and learn from them, and save yourself some pain. You need to download updated drivers from: planetamd64.com or directly from VIAArena. The ones on the ASUS site do NOT WORK. You need to make a new F6 disk to use during the installation. Finally, on the A8V, at least, you need to use the two SATA connectors next to the VIA chip, NOT the ones next to the Promise chip. The right ones are marked "SATA1" and "SATA2". The wrong ones are marked "SATA RAID1" and "SATA RAID2". And then disable the Promise controller in the BIOS. These boards work, and work well. I'm sure that eventually all the driver problems for them will get sorted. But in the mean time, READ and save yourself some pain, and save those of us trying to help some bandwidth. -- Charlie.     - Got my XP Pro x64 trial CD Finally came in the mail today. Time to play... Has to be activated within 14days of installation. Apparently, you will be able to install the final release over top of the trial, or perhaps change the PID number... but if you decide against the "upgrade", you'll need to re-install your prior OS and perhaps even need to re-format the drive first. Most of the product insert talks about using the built-in and online help and support. Windows Update will be the normal route for updates. Requires AMD Athlon64 or Opteron, or Intel Xeon or P4 with EM64T, 256M RAM, 1.5G hard disk space, super vga (800x600dpi) or better video card, CD ROM or DVD drive, keyboard and MS Mouse or compatible pointing device.     - Dual boot can't load x64 w/o CD in boot drive. I have loaded x64 in a dual boot with WinXp 32 bit. The 32 bit version works fine, but I can't boot into the x64 version without setting bios to boot from the CD first and have the x64 install CD in the drive. If I don't have the CD in or set the computer to boot from hard drive or removeable drive I get the following message: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\System32\ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-install a copy of the above file."     - Instalation I installed pro 64 6 times keept removing everthing to try and get this software to boot and no luck. i have an asus a8v deluxe board 3200+cpu 1 gig of ram and a matrox millinium 750 graphics card. i down loaded the 64 bit drivers for the sata chip sets as this board has two. it will intall and get to the final stages of rebooting for the last time and then it will restart and go strait to safe mode and there it sits. wont even go into safe mode? any advice?     - DirectX Troubles I'm having a bit of a problem with DirectX. When I run dxdiag, I receive errors stating that the following DLLs are invalid Windows images: C:\Windows\system32\d3d9.dll C:\Windows\system32\ddraw.dll C:\Windows\system32\dinput8.dll C:\Windows\SysWOW64\DHCPCSVC.DLL The 64-bit DxDiag, on the other hand, reports no such errors and runs perfectly.     - Network Print Driver Help Hi everybody I have a HP LJ2100 TN Printer, when I hook it up to my XP64 computer, the OS finds the printer and installs the driver. It works perfectly...But here is the catch. I have a 2003 OS (32bit version) setup as a DC. One of the things this DC does is provide print services for my small little network. I want to add the LJ2100 print driver to the print server. It's easy to do, but the problem is where is the driver? I tried placing the XP64 OEM Cd in and having it search for it. No luck. I next installed the printer on the XP64 computer, installed the drivers and then disconnected it. Then copied the drivers from the spooler directory to the server tried it again. That wont work because I need an INF file to install the drivers. Is there a way to extract the print drivers fromt he CD somehow (assuming somebody knows where to find them) so I can install those on the print server, so I can then have my LJ2100 setup as a network printer? I am nervous wiping the computer clean and hoping if it will work with the other components like my ATI Radeon 9600 vid card etc. Will the trial let you revert back to the original version if it fails?     - Happy with RTM. I just installed the RTM version of XP-x64 with no problems on the following system. AMD FX51 Asus SK8N 2 GB ECC ram (4x512) 2 WD 160GB SATA hard drives Asus GF FX5950 Ultra Creative Audigy 2 zs Promise FastTrac 378 Raid USR 5610B modem Leadtek WinFast TV2000 expert TV tuner Epson Stylus C84 printer The Promise raid drivers from PlanetAMD64 worked using F6 during install. Creative beta sound drivers function normally. USR 5610B drivers installed with the operating system and functions normally for sending a FAX but dial-up internet dialer program doesn't recognize the operating system. Onboard LAN functions normally. The only changes made from the original installation; updated video to 71.84, installed creative drivers, everything else is out of the box. I haven't found compatible printer drivers or capture drivers yet. All standard programs function except my old DOS programs. The only complaint at this time is with Epson and Leadtek for being behind with drivers. This has been the most stable system from Microsoft, including CPP releases that I've used so far.     - NTL (UK) cable broadband modem 64 bit driver. I want to take part in Microsoft's 'Windows's XP Professional x64 Edition Technology Advancement Program' - basically swap my XP Pro's license for the new x64 professional OS and license - at no cost. I have got all the drivers I need and a perfect rig for this new x64 OS. However, I cannot get a driver for the modem that I was given by the NTL ISP. It's the start of a new 12 month contract with them...so I can't just sod them off and move ISP, it would cost me over £200 to break contract. And I don't want to resign to being unable to take advantage of this offer *just* because of a petty driver for my broadband modem - especially when I have all the other drivers ready to go. The modem is branded as NTL's property, it's a 'USB cable modem 351000' (only it connects with Ethernet or USB - I use Ethernet). I could do with finding out who makes the damn thing for a start, but my ISP is not too forthcoming with email help...but I'll try.     - confused about product ids on Dell copies of XP Pro I have two separate, legal copies of XP Pro which came with two different Dell computers. I wanted to keep one and trade one in for XP 64. The instructions on the page where one trades one OS for another says to take the product id which appears on the system properties screen. I am using one copy of XP Pro and just installed the other on another partition to get the product id. I am confused because the product id is the same on both copies. I downloaded the the x64 trial version a couple of months ago. Now i've got
a new PC i would like to install it on that but i've deleted the e mail with
the product key in it. Can someone please give me a link to where I can get a
new one, I've spent about an hour going through the Microsoft website but
have found nothing.

The key was unique and currently you cannot get a new one since the BETA is
closed. If you did not save the key, then you are SOL. Live and learn.

As stated, the product is no longer in beta so those pages have been
removed. You can try the trial program if you like.
