I have just built a new system (Athlon 64 x2 4400+) and installed XP 64bit on
it. During the installation my Logitech PS2 keyboard worked fine, but once
the installation completed, the Keyboard was the proud owner of a large
yellow question mark in Device MAnager, and didn't work. I found a SetPoint
64-bit driver on Logitech's website and installed it. The Keyboard
works!...but not after any reboot (including the one the installer
recommends!). This is tiresome to say the least (unless I just leave the
thing on all the time!).
I also downloaded a monitor driver for my Viewsonic LCD - it appears to
install fine and appears in add/remove programs, but the monitor is still
listed as Plug & play monitor in DM with a Microsoft gneric driver. If I try
to update the driver, I find the monitor is now listeded when I enter Display
Properties, but I can't select it and go because the installer says it can't
find the .INF file!
Any ideas?

I have the same setup. I had a keyboard that didn't work after installation
was complete. I switched in a generic keyboard and all was well.

I've more or less come to that conclusion myself! Anyway - I've sorted the
monitor problem.
