Missing or corrupt ntoskrnl.exe ,please reinstall.

I get this message when trying to boot into Win X64.I dual boot between it
and XP Pro.What is the command line to replace the file?

Has it worked before? What did you change? Do you have the correct version
of ntldr on the current system drive?

You need to boot off the x64 CD and go into the recovery console. I am not
positive, but I think you need run chkdsk, also try this syntax:
expand D:\i386\ntoskrnl.exe x:\system32\ntoskrnl.exe "x" representing your
drive letter under which XP Pro x64 is installed. Remember to log in first
as an Administrator in Recovery console befor attempting this or you will
receive an error message about denied access.

You have the wrong ntldr file on your system drive now after installing x32.
Copy the ntldr and the ntdetect.com file from your x64 drive onto your
system drive. Then using the recovery console, do a bootcfg /rebuild to
create a valid boot.ini file.

Hello Andre,
This is more than likely just the wrong version of NTLDR and NTdetect.com
on the system.
This is more than likely not ntoskrnl.exe.

However in Recovery Console, when you copy compressed files from the CD
they are automatically expanded.
Compressed files would be listed with an underscore as the last character
of the filename, such as ntoskrnl.ex_
If the underscore is not present the file is not compressed.
In Recovery Console, Expand is used to extract from Cab files, not to
uncompress files( I do not know why they changed this to expand from
Extract in Recovery Console)

Boot to your x32 system. Insert the x64 cd in your drive. Cancel any
autoplay. In my computer, right click on the cd drive with the x64 cd and
select search.
Go to Disk Management and make sure what your system drive is. Then in my
computer, right click on the system drive and select explore. Make a new
folder on the drive and move the ntldr and ntdetect.com files into it. Then
in the search panel, after selecting files and folders, enter ntldr , which
will be in the I386 folder, just drag it onto the system drive to replace
the one you moved to the new folder. Do the same with ntdetect.com. The
command in recovery console is bootcfg /rebuild don't forget the space.
While you are there, you can double check to see if the ntoskrnl.exe file is
in the x64 windows system32 folder

I did what you described and I am now able to boot into both OS's.
My boot time is alot longer than before,but thats ok.
When I went into bootcfg /rebuild it asked for numbers?
now when i get the choice it has a number 1 and 2 and then my OS choices.So
i obviously didnt do something correct.Thanks again
