Microsoft updates "corrupts" install - continuously reboots

Installed WS2003 Enterprise x64 evaluation on sata drive with no problems.
Appears to work fine untill I run Windows Updates. After installing updates
& re-booting, the system will not completely boot - it just passes the splash
screen, then reboots before the login screen appears & remains in this loop.
Any suggestions as to what might resolve this issue would be greatly
appreciated!

When you ran updates were there any driver updates included? Some hardware,
video in particular, is real picky about the drivers used, I once had a
Gainward video card with the Nvidia chipset, the Nvidia upgrades could not
be used, it would do precisely what you've described until the Gainward
drivers were restored.

The problem download was either KB896424 or KB896428 (I believe it was
K8896428 though I'm not sure). I didn't attempt to install any of the
drivers (3) listed

I would suggest F8 during boot and choosing last known good configuration,
this may work since by your description of the problem the system hasn't had
a successful boot since you updated it.

Have you tried Safe mode. If that would work, it would point to drivers,
but you could uninstall the updates you suspect. Worth a try.
