Hi All

I am about to buy a HP 2600N laserjet. Have scouted around the web and even
contacted HP - there is no X64 driver for it.
Does WIn X64 have driver support for it? Any thing else I can do to get this
printer working?
Need to know before I buy it, which is tomorrow! ie - should I not buy it....

Thanks for help in anxious urgent anticipation : )

Don't buy it! "Print Languages, std: Host-based"

You want a printer that talks PCL or Postscript, or preferably both. NOT one
that requires the computer to host the language. You will _always_ be
dependent on HP to provide a driver for your particular OS, regardless if
you choose this printer.

Dont even think to buy it.!! I'm waiting for a driver for my Color lasejet
3500 a year ago.
Take a look at Xerox Phaser 8500 which has x64 driver and same price.

HP has your driver 3500 and 3500n for 64bit x86. Check out the HP.com site.

It is a Itanium driver, not compactible with x64. Sorry....
HP has disappointed us and we must express it in each occasion.

You are in error. They have a 64-bit Itanium driver. Won't work for x64.

HP said they are working on this driver but it's still at least two months
out.

Alan,

More investigation shows the HP CLJ2550 is a close one to CLJ2600 which has
x64 driver support. Please forward this message to the customer.

HP is working on x64 driver for CLJ2600, but not in next couple of months.

Thanks.

Wenzhong

Yes. It was originally promised by end of year. Clearly, HP is having
problems with the drivers.

I think the Xerox is much more expensive.
The HP2600N will cost me $575 AUD. Please show me where in Aus I can buy the
Xeroz or any other comparable colour laser printer with network for this
price (and works with X64).

My point is that I don't think it will work with x64. Maybe someday they'll

I bought this printer in October based on the website for it saying
they were working to release a driver by the end of the year for x64.
In December they removed that notice from the website instead of
releasing a driver, contacting support has been less than helpful as
well. I suspect that the engineering department does not keep the
support department appraised of development progress or that the
support department does not see a need to track them. Either way for
now this printer will cause you more frustration that solutions.

First and absolute rule if you want things to work right. Do not buy "host
based" printers. Or "win modems" or anything else that does the processing
and intelligence in the OS so that the device ONLY works with an OS that it
has written software for.
