    - Subsystem problem Everytime I try to open programs like Turbo Pascal or other full-screen applications like games on this computer I get this error message, always the same one : 16 bit Windows Subsystem C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. I don't think it's a compatibilty problem because I've already tried to change the compatitbility mode and besides, some of the programs I can't open aren't even that old. Since it says 16 bit at the top I've also tried changing the colour settings but that doesn't work either.     - Is 64-bit XP compatible with anything? We just bought our dream machine -- an AMD Athlon dual core with everything we could imagine including XP 64. Unfortunately, we found that simply loading software on the computer was impossible. For instance, a standard Linksys USB wireless G device that we bought two months ago and that worked perfectly on the predecssor got to 25% load on install and then froze. I tried everything -- Safe Mode, etc. -- and still could not get it to load. When we finally got through to the company's tech support, they told us that XP 64 was "for the future" and that it was basically incompatible with everything today. We're thinking that we'll return this computer, but I'm wondering if anyone at Microsoft can tell me if XP 64 is a working system that could be useful today to someone who does the usual Office, photos, videos, etc. If so, what would I need to do to load software on XP 64?     - pre-mature expiration of xp64 My xp64 trial ended 6 months early (supposed to be for a year). How can I restore it without having to reinstall? What could have caused this? The only out of the ordinary thing I noticed was that yesterday my calendar was displaying June 1 2005 instead of Sep. 1 2005. Prior to that, however, the date was always correct. I installed the trial late feb. 2005. I corrected the date yesterday and then when I went to boot up for the first time today, it gave me the message to buy a retail version my trial expired.     - broadcom wi-fi not working I just bought an emachines m6811 with amd 64 3400+, 512 MB memory, and just finished installing Windows XP Prof. x64. The wi-fi card in the laptop is not finding the access point. It has a broadcom g adapter that works in b or g mode. The adapter is set to work in mixed mode right now. (I have tried it in just g mode but that didn't work either.) I have searched the web for broadcom drivers since the one that is installed right now is a generic one from Microsoft dated 2002. (I have updated Windows with Microsoft Update.) Has anyone else run into this problem? I can get internet access from the ethernet port, but not from the Broadcom wi-fi adapter. P.S. I have gone into Device Manager, and the Broadcom wireless adapter is showing up there, and it does not have any problems or conflicts. It states that it's working properly, but it cannot find the access point. I have also tried connecting to an access point that works just using b mode.     - Win XP 64 (TAP upgrade) will not run I have a dual booted PC with Win XP SP2 and Win XP 64 (RC2). The Win XP 64 ran OK. Having, at last, received my TAP upgrade I upgraded (re-installed) Win XP 64. The installation appeared to go OK. I preloaded Silicon Image 3114 SATA Raid5 version 1.2.3.1 driver and the nVidia SATA Raid version 6.66 drivers. The partition for Win XP 64 is the 3rd (Volume E:) on the nVidia SATA and is set up as a Raid 0+1 At the stage of finalising the installation on rebooting the PC looped. On preventing a reboot the error: *** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFFADFE480F3C0, 0xFFFFFFFFC00000034, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000) was reported. The motherboard is a gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI with a dual nVidia 6600 GT video card (GV-3D1). Through WinXP (which still runs OK) I have access to the Win XP 64 installation.     - ODBC I am using a trial version of Win 64 bits with great pleasure and satisfaction. The only stumbling block is that I cannot create an ODBC for Access and SQL. 1. It's there but does not open like Win XP 32 bits. It only offers SQL Server. 2. As for SQL Server 2000 SP4 does not recongnize Aliases created in the Client Manager.     - setup.exe does nothing until restart Hi all, I am trying to install an app by running setup.exe but nothing appears when I do so. I can see the process exists in task manager but nothing appears. When I go to restart my XP x64 box, the setup dialogue appears briefly before the system restarts. So, I am guessing that setup.exe is blocked on something being released before it can run (which is released just before the restart). I have tried disabling my anti-virus (avast) and rebooting to no effect. Have also tried ending every process I think I can get away with before trying setup.exe with no success.     - x64 install I downloaded the iso image and using rosio wrote it to disk. Winimage sees it but it will not boot. I created another cd using winimage to copy the iso to a normal cd. It won't boot either. I downloaded a virtual cd driver and am able to view the iso image but when I click on the setup it pops up a message that I must boot from the cd. These drivers were built on the 2nd August, which makes them the newes set currently available. I have been using the drivers for a couple o days before 77.77 was released (upgrading from 77.72) and haven' really noticed too many differences, but then I didn't really have an issues with the older set.     - Post-installation problem I just recently installed XP Pro X64 edition, it went through to the end after the partitioning and whatnot, to where it restarts after you put in your cd key and timezones/network information, and after it restarts, it goes to the screen where you can pick the three safe starts, the last settingsthat worked, and the start normally, no matter which I pick, it just restarts and goes back to those 5 options again. You have to press the "F6" key at the begin of the installation. (there
should be a "press F6 to ..." message displayed at the bottom of the
installer screen shortly after it has started)
Then you have to provide a floppy disk that contains the appropriate driver
for your hard disk controller.

What is your mobo and what type of drives are you trying to install on.
Are you setting up RAID?
