I can right-click on the drive letter and EJECT, but to inject I have to go
thru MANAGE- Removable Storage - Libraries and THEN right-click - inject.
As my seat is often not near the PC I'm using , anyway to simplify this so
that I can right-click on drive and under EJECT have INJECT as an option ?
And , come to think of it , why is this NOT an option by default - like
Eject is ??

( Mostly comes into play when after some apps, (like burning a CD) the PC
ejects the CD and/or I need to eject/inject to have it recognize the new
media etc.

Thanks,
Bobb

Inject is not a default behaviour since you have to physically be there to
insert the new CD, thus the ability to push in the drawer or CD. Plus once
it IS inserted, it will be recognized. Or should be. I've seen some issues
with 32-bit apps having some minor issues, but nothing that having an inject
function would fix.

There are some tools such as eject.exe that can be used
for this purpose. See if you can find one via Google. If not
then I can post the one I have.

Mostly the need arises after burning a custom CD/DVD. I'll start it then go
about my day. The PC ejects the CD and I need to ""reload" the new CD to
access it. It's IN the tray already - it's just that on a campus
environment, I might be in another building and when the burn is done, I now
just want to access it: remotely rather than walking across campus to push
the button , then walking back. In that case, I could just take the CD back
with me to that area.

I CAN do it as below, but thought that perhaps I could get it to a more
user-friendly interface.
So I guess this way is the only way.
Thanks for the feedback.

Burning software often has an option not to eject the CD after the burn is
completed.

The option may be in an obscure place in the menus, but if available would
solve your problem.

Check the CD that came with the CD-RW drive. Several have a CLOSE
utility, but not all.

Ah, I'd try "Eject again, or just wait - most drives will auto-close
after a time-out period, as hard-coded into their firmware.

If OTOH you wanted to re-autorun a CD that was already in place, I'd
rt-click the drive letter and choose Autorun or Autoplay, which will
no longer be the default (bold) action if already done.
