    - connecting to 64 bit cmd.exe or regedit.exe from remote scripts Many of my scripts are not working on the 64 bit machines. I think it's because they are using the WOW64 version of the exe instead of the system32 version. Does anyone know the trick to allow remote batch files to work? Even the psexec program is having problems with the 64bit nodes. I'm trying to narrow it down, but still searching for answers.     - Directories : Programm Files Hi, I got just aware of having 2 directories ; 1rst "Program Files [x86]" -english written 2nd "Programme [x86]" -german written I do have RTM with MUI installed. I am anyhow surprised about that. Was that "Programme [x86]" (my language) with subtree installed by MUI ? to be the default installation-directory for some Designed for Windows software in my language ? Would be the "english" directory "Programm Files..." the default for some english software-version ? Is this typical for MUI based OS Versions ? I have not been working with one before.     - Using AOL Has anyone been able to use AOL on Win 64bit. I've loaded it on but there's no driver for the modem and the actual program doesn't get past the splash screen, says it's installing some things then just stops. I can connect to the net through my router but I need to be able to connect to AOL on this computer since I can only connect through my router when one of my other computers is connected, which isn't going to be often.     - Intel P4 506 EM64T Ready Intel Corp. on Friday disclosed plans to enable 64-bit processing capability on a low-cost Intel Pentium 4 processor clocked at 2.66GHz. The chip is likely to be priced well below $163 and enable very low-cost computers with Enhanced Memory 64 Technology. The move outlines Intel?s strong support for 64-bit capability in x86 desktop processors. Intel Pentium 4 processor 506 will be clocked at 2.66MHz and will include 1MB of L2 cache. The chip is expected to replace Intel Pentium 505 processor that has the same clock-speed and amount of cache, but does not have EM64T as well as Intel Hyper-Threading technology. Intel did not indicate whether it plans to enable the Hyper-Threading on the Intel Pentium 506 chip. The new product is expected to be 533MHz processor system bus LGA775 infrastructure compatible, but a new BIOS for a mainboard will be needed to take advantage of the EM64T. Intel will initiate supply of the Pentium 4 506 processor on the 27th of May, 2005, whereas mass supplies are scheduled for the 10th of June. I e-mailed them almost three weeks ago, originally, then one week ago I got a reply back from them saying what's pasted below. Now, just today, I received the SAME EXACT MESSAGE. AGAIN.     - cannot boot after installing server 2003 64-bit On a new server, based on an intel se7520af2 server board with 8GB RAM, 2 Xeon CPU's, and using the onboard SCSI RAID, I get completely through the server 2003 install fine, but when the system goes to boot for the first time I see just the starting windows screen for a second, then the system reboots. It will keep rebooting cyclically like this. I have tried turning off HTT in the CPU's and adjusting the cache setting on the RAID array, but to no avail. If I boot from CD is there something I can look at to figure out what is wrong and try to correct it? I have tried reinstalling 3 times and it is the same result each time.     - Compatibility for Win2K Video Editing System Hi There, I have a P4 1700mHz 512MB RDRAM Win2K Pro computer, with a Pinnacle DC1000 DV VIdeo Capture/Editing Card and the ATI Radeon 7500 Dual-Display Graphics card. It also has 2 ATA (2X10GB) and one IDE (80GB) HDD- all on an ASUS P4T533 Motherboard. The video editing software is Adobe Premiere 6.0. Currently the system is working very slowly (not enough RAM for editing), and crashes from time to time while editing. The cpu uses the new intel processor with support for 64bit. I have read as much info i can find regarding 64bit and in my point of view it seems to have more advantages then drawbacks. I know you cant answear compability problems/questions cause of the huge amout of combos in hardware/software.     - Question(s) about RTM release I am currently running a multi-boot setup, with Windows XP SP2 on one partition, and WIndows XP x64 RC2 on another partition (which runs great). My plan is to download the RTM trial edition when it becomes available while I wait to obtain a fully-functional (no timebomb) copy for permanent use. I have two questions: (1) Will the RTM trial edition install over my RC2 edition, and upgrade it? (and I guess reduce the license time from 365 days to 120 days). Or do I need to format and re-install? If so, forget it, RC2 seems stable and functional enough until I get a full RTM CDROM. (2) With RC2, the Windows Update seems to work fine, but there has never been an update to install. Is that because RC2 is "cut off" so-to-speak from updates and the feature is "up and running" but not "functioning"? Or are there truly no new updates? If cut-off, that worries me a little, I'd hate to think I am opening myself up to security issues by running an OS without security update features. A brief list of my own grievences: 1. Had to use a credit card to pay for shipping, but DID NOT RECEIVE a confirmation email. Quite disturbing, considering Zomax (probably at Microsoft's direction) makes the upgrade sign-up site look like a MS site, when in fact it's not. Who has my credit card information, now? Big, big, mystery. 2. After ordering, the Zomax-run status check web site simply says, "pending." Pending what, precisely, and until when? Simply "pending" is inadequate, especially now that I'm concerned about the security and location of my personal financial information (see #1, above). Strike two. 3. Repeated emails to the address listed on the upgrade site yield no reply--even direct email inquiries to Zomax go unanswered. Isn't it true that one of the biggest reasons for outsourcing your customer relations is because you don't have the staff on hand to handle the inevitable high volume of communications necessary, and the company you hire has the needed capacity?
