I came to the conclusion that the 4400+ was the price/performance sweet spot
about six months ago and I have not regretted the choice one bit.

Quite! They weren't available here six months ago, so you beat me to it.
What is really surprising, is that the 4200+ walks away favorably compared
with saving a rounded $100!

AND, the spending of an extra $150, will largly be wasted.

(Then , of course, you could donate $1.000 to Intel and let them keep their
Extremities)
