New ATI Catalyst Driver

This is a highly recommended update, since it resolves a potential root-kit
vulnerability ("Purple Pill") in the ATI driver code.

(Note: this same vulnerability exists in other drivers, including nVidia,

I run 2 ATI X1600 pro graphics cards in crossfire mode and also run the same
card in my 2nd PC and have this update already. The picture/graphics are A1
and both PCs run 100% ok so its reliable IMO. Well worth D/L for security and
picture quality.

I noticed it has grown (since the 7-6 driver) from less than 40MB to
more than 50MB. It seems that you are forced to download something
called "Earthsim" at the same time, which it then defaults to installing
along with the drivers. Even if you de-select this, it still tries to
install Steam. This really sucks. Not only am I obliged to download well
over 10MB of crap I don't want to get an important security fix, it
doesn't even respect your decision not install the unwanted extra.

This is a trend that I also don't like. And is reason number 1 why I always
choose Advanced install and carefully deselect every possible piece of extra
CRAP.

I used their Catalyst Crew Feedback to have a good moan about it. Maybe
it will do some good.
