I got Ferrari 3400 laptop with an AMD Athlon 64.The problem is that I can't
install windows x64 even after formatting my hard disk. I burned the image
provided by Microsoft to a CD, but when I insert it into the drive and boot
the laptop, nothing happens!! I'm actually using XP professional SP2. Thanks
in advance for help.

Does your CD get recognized as a bootable CD? If not, you might find this of
interest.

For excellent instructions on how to write an ISO file to a CD correctly, I
recommend:
http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm

Note that several people I know on the x64 team at Microsoft have the older
Ferrari 3400 and they're all running x64 Edition. I and several others here
are running the Ferrari 4005 in x64.

Did you burn the file to a disk as a file in the root of the CD (ie so you
see X:\xxxxxx.ISO), or did you use a burning application and use the "burn
image" or "burn ISO" option, specifying the xxxxxx.ISO as the image?

It sounds like you may have done the former, when you needed to do the
latter.
