When I attempt to install DirectX 9 in WinXP Pro x64, I get error message
stating some words to the effect of: cannot install.. must have xxxx, xxxx,
etc. operating system. WinXP Pro x64 is not listed. Not having DirectX
installed seems to be hurting my graphics performance. Is there a solution.
Is DirectX for x64 not available? In development? Any word on when it will
be available?

DirectX 9.0c is installed automatically when the OS is installed. At least
the final build is anyway.

Select Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System
Information. Then when that window pops up select Tools / DirectX Diagnostic
Tool and check your "already installed" DirectX settings.

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks for the steps, Steve. We've been telling people it's in there, but I
honestly didn't know how to prove it. I've snatched the steps for my standard
answer file. :)

Another one is to do a "dxdiag" from the Run, and you can see the
version at one of the last lines on the first infromation page.
