I thought I would try IExplorer 7 beta to see how it works, but it will not
install under 64bit windows.
Did I get the wrong download?
I thought IE 7 was meant for Windows Vista, which also deals with 64 bit
aplications.
Or is there a driver that needs to be installed?
Thanks in advance

If you took the time to read the page about the I.E. 7 Beta, it plainly
states that there is no 64-bit version yet - only 32-bit.

That shouldn't prevent it from installing though. Win64 runs 32-bit apps.

Then tell Microsoft they don't know what they are talking about!

Go to the following page and read carefully:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/ie7betaredirect.mspx

Evaluation of Internet Explorer 7 should start now, but the software=20
should not be used on production systems in mission-critical=20

Windows=AE XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) systems, but will ultimately be=20
available for Windows Vista, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, and=20
Windows Server 2003.

A new preview of the IE 7 Beta 2 Preview will be released at MIX '06, so
maybe there will be support for x64.

Rick: There's no need to get hostile. Not everyone (to their own demise)
reads the prerequisites and fine print before installing hardware or
software. Not everyone is able to read between the lines as you are either
when it states "only for Windows XP w/SP2." Most users do not realize that
Windows x64 is based off of Windows 2003 which is a later build than Windows
XP.

These boards are here for people that may not be all that familiar with the
technicalities of each OS release. A better approach is to explain to the
newbies why it won't work instead of accosting them.

Well in defense of Ruud Microsoft shouldn't advertise things on XP 64bit
webpage that aren't useable with it.

I'm new to the forum.

Having read the microsoft diatribe I decided to install the Beta IE7 anyways
on my Acer Ferrari Turion ML-40 and voila no problems. I have been running
it for about a month now and have not encountered any issues yet (plug
Murphy's ears).

Yes, the current one works fine. This thread actually dates back to before
the Beta 2 release, and that was the issue. But watch out for Murphy. He's
an optimist and very, very patient. :)
