    - NIC problems Has anyone experienced this unusual quirk with XP Pro? I have an Abit KV81 (64 bit) Motherboard with an AMD Sempron 64 bit processor. It has an integrated Lan using the Via K8M800/vt8237 chipset. The NIC card is the via vt6122 card - which has 64 bit drivers. When attempting to install the NIC drivers, XP 64 refuses to see the card and reports back with the message "Can not find proper NIC, click OK to exit program." In fact - XP 64 seems to think I have a IEEE1394 card (which I don't) and reports that it is happily connected. Despite long hours searching for a solution - uninstalling/reinstalling/disabling/enabling/deleting drivers - XP 64 still cannot see the LAN card. Has anyone overcome this anomally. I hope someone can help - as I'm beginning to feel that I've been duped by the hype - and that XP64 pro is for people with too much time on their hands... -- Do Goldfish say "Never Again"?     - No offense guys I spent nearly an hour convincing myself that a Microsoft hosted discussion group concerning a new operating system couldn't be searched, at least using IE 6. I'm sure the participants here would appreciate not having to answer the same questions over and over again. I tried to look back page by page to find out about finding a HP 1055CM driver that will run under 64 bit.     - Dual Boot question.... Hi, Got a new PC with XP x64 installed, and I'm having a few perpheral issues so I'm thinking of going down the dual boot route. Currently I have one SATA 300gb with the XP x64 and want to get a second SATA drive onto which I'd install XP x32. Now I'm new to this dual boot, so I'm hoping someone can tell me what I'd need to do. Could I unplug the current drive, plug in the new one, set up XP x32, copy some files from the x64 disk (forget which ones) and edit the boot.ini, then plug in the origional disk as the master having the x32 as the secondary?     - StarForce on 64bit ? I am trying to install DTM 2 and GTR on my 64 bit system but after installing DTM 2 for instance i get the message to restart my computer once i try to start the game. This seems to stay in a loop :( I do assume it has something to do with the starforce protection.     - x64 see's 233GB not 250GB. I have 4 diamondmax 250GB hard drives. I am runnung XP PRO x64, but the OS always shows the HDD's as having only 233 GB of space (obviosly less on the boot disc). Why is this? It also happens when using the onboard Nvidia RAID or x64 software RAID. Secondly how do I encourage the system to use more physical RAM rather virtual RAM.     - xp64 install going in circles As a follow up to my previous (unanswered) query, I have this scenario going on. Since xp64 Trial did not complete install when trying to do a dual boot setup I decided to try some things. One doing reinstallation of xp64. Well, what is happening is that once setup has installed the setup files, and the message "this portion of setup has successfully installed, your computer will reboot in 15 seconds" the computer reboots, but only reverts back to installing the same setup files, rather than going on to the next stage of installation. What is causing this? The bios is set to boot from cd first. If i try to boot from hard drive first, I get the disc error message. When I do go back to setup, the setup detects the attempted install of xp64 as being "another version of windows" is installed in the windows folder etc. I believe the disc to be good, as I had installed from it once before successfully but had to redo the install in order to put xp32 on the other drive, and then reinstall xp64 on the new drive for a dual boot setup.     - follow up to HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B I found out what knock out my combo drive.i INSTALLED THE KODAK EASYSHARE SOFTWARE VERSION 5.03.It corupted my dvd driver.Luckily i had set a restore point just before installing the software. Which is bad itself, but it's even wrong as I x64 retail is not yet available, and I would not like to purchase a new system just to be entitled to purchase an OEM (ell, here in Italy is not as simple as purchasing the OEM together with a screw :( ).     - 32-bit IE creates funky folders on the desktop I hope somebody at MS reads this: I'm using WinXP Pro x64. For some reason, the 32-bit internet explorer keeps installing one of the active-x controls I'm currently developing in a funky-named folder on my desktop. I'll try to explain this in more detail: I'm currently making an active-x control. To test this control, I remove the currently registered control, copy the (signed) cab with the new version to the webserver and I go to the test website. IE immediately prompts me whether I want to install the control. The .INF file from the cab correctly ends up in the Downloaded Programs Folder, but for some reason the DLL ends up in a new, randomly-named folder on my desktop! In the Downloaded Programs Files folder the control is marked as Installed, but the DLL is using a relative path and is marked as Damaged. Sometimes the installation fails. In these cases the control's properties in Download Program Files folder shows the DLL again with a relative path but with strange (probably illegal) characters. This behaviour is very reproducable.     - IIS Hello. I've installed IIS on my Win x64 box but can't seem to connect it's web site. Whenever I try to connect to my "localhost" through IE I get a "Cannot find server" error.     - windows x64 i have just built a x64 PC and it seams to be very good for my work, Arcitect (rendering) however i also enjoy to play rainbow 6 raven shield over the net and for this i need a patch v 1.60 from the original v1.0 i have got the 1.56 patch installed but i can not get the 1.60 to work. it flashes up with the starting install wizard then vanishes. I was wondering when there is going to be a port of Apache web-server and
MySQL for Windows XP 64 bit. I searched their mailing lists and found
nothing.

I remember there was a version of MySQL for Windows XP 64 during the beta
testing phase, but I can't find it anymore.
